NRC Round 1 - results and highlights

By The Roar / Editor

Round 1 of the NRC is done and dusted, and we saw plenty of tries, just as we would expect from this competition.

Each week we’ll post all the results, the try scorers, as well as match highlights. We’re missing the Rams vs Eagles game from Round 1, but we’re working on it!

If by covering, you mean relaxing on my couch with beer and corn chips, then yes I am... :)

Ahh that makes my job easier! Are you covering the Vikings game?

The game in Perth is 3:30 local time though, Vinnie - so 5:30 AEST. And take your point above about the video page too..

And for some stupid reason this Saturday's games are at 2pm, 3pm and 3:30pm.. So if you were planning on watching them all you will have to wait..

It's the same Brett, that video page is like a youtube page, all their videos go there first and then they are linked to the 'nrc on demand' page They were pretty slow, mustn't have anyone in the office on Sunday The Roar was and still is the only place to catch the highlights which is nice! Well apart from the Wrap

It'll be worth checking next weekend, but it looks like they went up at the same time as on the NRC page; 5 hours ago for the two Saturday games and 1 hour ago for the Sunday match. The existence of a work-around wouldn't surprise though...there is no apparent logic behind having it in the "live" section then removing it entirely for a day before reloading it as a free replay.

Here's a strange little thing I've discovered. Like many, I was surprised to see that once a game is over, you can't go back to it on the Fox Sports 'NRC On Demand' page after the event - even the Thursday night game. But if you into Videos, and wade your way into Rugby, and the NRC category from there, all four games are there in one place: http://www.foxsports.com.au/video?vc=651

try foxsports.com.au then on demand if your foxtel subscription allows it.

I was suddenly on TV!! Yes, for some reason, the Saturday games didn't go up until today...

2015-08-24T06:10:03+00:00

I counted 48 hours Brett. Learn't my lesson and will record every game with 4 matches on at the same time.. Love your cameos though "hi mum" was a personal favourite

NSW Country lock Ned Hanigan - mobile, good on the ball, and a quality lineout operator already, at 20 years of age..

Not on TV, other than that one Thursday game on Foxtel (which was live). Only live coverage of the other games is at http://m.foxsports.com.au/rugby/nrc/nrcondemand. Strangely, even with a subscription it appears you need to wait a couple of days to see anything you didn't watch live.

Of the games I saw, wing for Qld Country, Perezes I think his name is, and the Lock for Brisbane City Thomas, plus Laloifi from Brisbane, while he did well last year isn't an SR player and he was great on Thursday. Also the QC props did well.

Looked for the games in the tv guide and fox sports only seemed to be telivising one game (Brisbane CIty vs Perth Spirit) and even that wqasn't live. Does anyone know if we are going to get at least a few of these games live each week?

some unknowns ? For example?

Hello

Roar Rookie

Scrums seem to be something that the reds or QRU are focusing on - it was nearly the only positive for the reds

Some great games played in Round 1 and good to see some unknowns putting their hand up and making us take notice. The forward battle looked strong in the games I saw.

I thought you got a point for losing by 8 points or less. If so I think QC get a point. I was at the QC game yesterday and really enjoyed it. Great atmosphere. Beautiful Sunday afternoon. QC scrum towelled up Melbourne which surprised me. Ref was far more lenient than last year, especially at the end of the first half when yellow card was called for. I like Radike Samo. Will never forget his Suncorp try v the All Blacks. Having said that he threw the game away for QC yesterday. Five to go, QC scrum powering forward 5 metres out from the Melbourne line, Samo (for some unknown reason) picks up, goes himself, turns the ball over and 2minutes later Melbourne score. Shocking play. If a kid did it you'd drop him.
