Luke Hodge accepts two-game AFL ban

By News / Wire

Hawthorn captain Luke Hodge has predictably accepted a two-game AFL suspension.

Hodge will sit out the last two rounds before the finals after being charged with rough conduct against Port Adelaide star Chad Wingard.

His high bump meant Wingard’s head was sandwiched between Hodge and the point post but the Power forward did not suffer serious injury.

Hodge would have risked a three-game ban – putting him out of action for the first week of the finals – if he took the case to the tribunal.

Fremantle onballer David Mundy has also accepted a $1000 fine for striking North Melbourne veteran Brent Harvey.

Dockers star Nat Fyfe remains the Brownlow Medal favourite after the match review panel decided on Monday not to proceed with a report for front-on contact.

Nah...he'll have trained off. Fighters need to be in the ring constantly.

he will be nice and fresh for the finals... he probably had a few niggling injuries by now, expect him to have a blinder of a finals series. If he king hits a guy behind play during a preliminary final he will get a suspended sentence covering next years NAB cup game. The fact he didn't get 4 weeks given his prior history is a disgrace.

So an Ed Harris type director really is in the control room manipulating the Truman Show that is the AFL. Now that's playing the fans for fools...

I think there was no doubt that he was going to take the 2 weeks only a crazy person would have tried to fight it.

This article is a joke. At no point does it mention "Hodgey is a great bloke" What an outrage.
