Rugby World Cup live stream: How to watch the 2015 Rugby World Cup online, on TV or on radio

By The Roar / Editor

There will be numerous ways to watch or listen to every match of the 2015 Rugby World Cup available inside or outside Australian shores, be it online through live streaming, on TV, or Radio. This post is your comprehensive guide to following the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Live Stream
The only legitimate way to live-stream the Rugby World Cup in Australia is through the Foxtel Go or Foxtel Play apps.

Foxtel Go is available free if you have an existing Foxtel service, while Foxtel Play is better for those who only want to access Foxtel services through live-streaming, rather than have a traditional installation. It starts at $25 per month.

Every match of 2015 Rugby World Cup will be shown on Foxtel, so you’ll be able to watch all of them via Foxtel Go or Foxtel Play.

A live streaming service will also be available through a UK TV station ITV, showing matches live online or available for replay either through their main channel ITV or alternately through ITV4.

However, this service is geo-restricted outside the UK, meaning Australian viewers won’t be able to access it.

The Roar will also be running a live blog of every match of the Rugby World Cup and will have video highlights from each match available within Australia via Roar TV.

TV
Only a select coverage of games will be available via Free-to-Air, however, every single game of the 2015 Rugby World Cup will be broadcast live via Foxtel on Fox Sports 3 and Fox Sports 3HD.

For Free-to-Air coverage, the Nine Network will broadcast a number of games including all of Australia’s matches and all of the finals matches on channel GEM.

For a full list of which matches will and won’t be broadcast on Free-to-Air, check out our Rugby World Cup TV Guide.

Radio
Live commentary of games will be available nationally via ABC and will be live streamed via the ABC Grandstand website.

Guys, if you are on a mac use "Tunnel Bear" and then you can watch anything from anywhere. In this instance you'll be able to use the ITV view, but it is also good for BBC, ABC when you are travelling

Just get a VPN? 10 bucks a month can watch as much as you want, from anywhere. Choice Australia and ACCC have all backed the use of such websites.

Agreed. It is very odd that even with the proven success of netflix and other streaming sites they are still pricing themselves out of the market. Idiocy.

Tip: you can get around the ads by going to full screen. Also it won't be high definition and the commentary might by in a foreign language, but who needs commentary anyway, if you are an intelligent Roarer?? You mighty be listening to a Kiwi or a Scotsman, but sometimes you get the likes of Michael Lynagh etc, so it's not all bad.

I'm not going to tell people where else it can be found but if I were someone looking for free streaming, I would go to good old Google and search for "stream Rugby World Cup Free". or you could go to a site called vipboxsports.tv, but you will have to put up with lots of ads and you need to make sure your anti-virus and malware are working.

Disappointed that the opening ceremony wasn't televised on free to air. This is a major world event and we cant even see it unless we pay for cable. Sport for the rich again. No wonder afl and nrl are making union look irrelevant.

True, it's cheaper than the US prices. You think we shouldn't be complaining. But Foxtel is the ONLY cable TV company here, it somehow managed to buy or kill off all competition. I personally can't get Foxtel in my unit (I tried, they have no cables here due to lack of demand). I've tried Foxtel Play via Xbox and it is no good. Buffering, low quality, looks like a bad Youtube video. The Universal Sports offer is good because you can watch every single match in HD anytime. (regardless of when you work, sleep etc) My only option now, is getting Foxtel Play and forcing myself up at random times like 11pm, 4:30am etc to watch the low quality stream through the Xbox. Not happy at this but one consolation is that the Nine Network is offering a select number of matches on freeview in HD, including the most important ones the Wallabies games. If I could get EVERY match in HD to watch ANYTIME, I'd pay that $200 right now (even if US dollars).

Fox still a bargain compared to the US ... Direct TV rates: (in USD) "Standard definition now starts at $27.95 per match and high definition starts at $37.95 per match" Can also get it on Universal Sports network (US only) at https://rwc2015ppv.com/ - $ 199 for all games (on PC / Tablet etc)

The Foxtel streaming service actually starts at $50, not $25, because you are required to select one of the basic packages plus Sports making the minimum cost $50. Don't they realise how much this packaging puts people off?
