Manchester City will be eager to reclaim top position on the English Premier League table when they host a struggling Newcastle United. Join The Roar from 12 midnight (AEST) for live scores.
After a strong start to the 2015-16 season, City have slipped to second on the table behind bitter rivals Manchester United.
A devastating 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in their last Premier League fixture saw them give up three points in a game where they were ahead.
Despite the loss, City found their winning ways midweek in the UEFA Champions League, with Sergio Aguero’s penalty finding the net in the 90th minute to secure the Citizens comeback against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Manchester City are unbeaten by Newcastle in their last 17 fixtures, winning 15 and scoring 39 times.
Newcastle United are in desperation mode just eight weeks into the season.
After four straight losses, the Magpies finally had a positive result in their last fixture, salvaging a 2-all draw against defending champions Chelsea.
Ayoze Perez and Georginio Wijnaldum put Newcastle in front, however the Magpies could not hold on as Chelsea came back late.
Newcastle sit 19th, with just three points, and haven’t managed to score against Manchester City in their last five games.
The last time City and Newcastle faced off was February this year, as the Citizens ran all over the Magpies in a 5-nil win.
Prediction
If City can find their shooting boots, they should make it 18 games unbeaten against Newcastle.
Manchester City 3–0 Newcastle United

What a buy De Bruyne is for MC!!!!! All class and has a touch of the David Silva about him. Love watching this young lad play. On the other hand, Raheem Stirling yet to convince as a worthwhile purchase. Aguero was just simply magic on the night - enuff said :)

This game is being played at 100 miles an hour. Great entertainment. Newcastle put away another couple of goals. The first is a clear offside and is denied. The second was a tough call but after a replay or two it looks like the goal should have stood. Watching live it looked offside. Newcastle should be up 2-0 Newcastle just squander another chance and then just as I finished that sentence they miss another even easier chance. City lucky not to be down several goals inside half an hour. This is amazing stuff.

After City miss a couple of good chances. Newcastle score an excellent goal. Sissoko provides a wonderful chipped pass to Mitrovic who heads it home. Thoroughly deserved goal for the Toons who have kept up and at times out played City in the opening 20mins of the game. This is going to be an interesting one

Newcastle have made the much better start to this game. Almost scoring in the opening moments.
