France captain Thierry Dusautoir gets a chance to repeat his finest performance when they take on defending champions New Zealand in the World Cup quarter-final on Saturday.
The 33-year-old flanker put in a massive 38 tackles against the All Blacks at the same stage and the same Millennium Stadium venue in 2007 to help knock out the favourites 20-18.
As a comparison, New Zealand as a team only put in 36 tackles in a huge French defensive effort.
He also put in a man-of-the-match performance against the All Blacks in France’s courageous 8-7 loss in the 2011 final on their opponents home turf.
“Next week there is a big challenge waiting for us,” he said of the quarter-final after his side suffered their first defeat of the tournament, a 24-9 loss to Six Nations champions Ireland on Sunday to consign them to the runners-up spot in Pool D.
“But we are going to look at what was not 100 per cent today and go into the next match with a lot of appetite.”

Let me guess, you're referring to " French flair".A myth, been dead for years. The days of Blanco and Sella are long gone, yet people still persist with this rubbish. If the french win,it will be through eye-gouging and testicle grabbing, that is what really passes for Gallic flair these days.

Mike, agree with what you say and having recently watched the 2007 qtr final replay the AB's need to put their possession to good use, back then the ball was wasted with far too many pick n goes. They have the talent and experience to deal to the french who will no doubt go hell for leather.

The last time the French played well was in the 2011 RWC final ever since they have been woeful. For the Frogs to even have a chance they are going to have to play better than they have in years. The All Blacks Are a very composed team a loss this weekend is at the least improbable.

The smiling assassin French captain Thierry Dusautoir's comments following the loss to Ireland will send a shiver down the spine of Kiwi rugby's fans. "We are very tired, but we have a big game ahead, against the biggest team in the world," L'Equipe reports Dusautoir as saying. "New Zealand are the favorites but you never know rugby. Play the All Blacks so early, it was not the aim (smile), but Ireland deserves his victory and has no choice now." Smile? Smile? We know that smile. That's the "aw shucks we haven't got a chance" public smile that cunningly diverts from the fact they've been plotting our downfall for years. That's the "we're going to play like men possessed and have no doubt we'll roll those saps" smile. That's the... we're doomed. Bring on the French!!!!!!

Micheal jones wrote in his book Iceman, when in the changing rooms the allblacks could hear alot of commotion directly across the hall way from the french changing shed that when the referee knocked on both the allblacks and french doors to line up under the tunnel, iceman said the french forwards had blood streaming down their heads, they were either head butting the wall or each others heads, the french lost, ten years later iceman is now captain and the french again had blood streaming from their heads, iceman turns to his mates and says here we go again brothers and yes the french lost again. This game should be a cracker as the allblacks bring the best out of all comers period and the last four years the allblacks have developed a mentle fortitude that will be tested once again.

Don't care if it's Barnes or not. I'm confident the ABs are in the right headspace this time so it could be a complete blowout, or it could be by one again. Whatever's works is fine.

Yeah wardad, sounds like bring your A game all of again...meanwhile, we'll rest players and bring our B game. Be an absolute crackup if they rest Folau and Pocock and they go out. But Cheikas not that stupid.

Played Wales last year Ireland 2013 .Played France in 6 WC games for 4 wins [ which would make the ABS the french teams nemesis .

Bugger my phone ran out of battery. But yea the five things All Blacks must do to beat the worst nightmare from happening. - play an uptempo game. - control the scrums. - unleash their dynamic trio of Savea/B.Smith/NMS. These guys can create something out of nothing. - dominate the second 40 to the last minute. - bring in the bench players when it matters. The likes of Vito, SBW, Faumuina and Barrett must be in the game during the last 20 minutes.

Does anyone know how officials are appointed. What money on the France v New Zealand being officiated by Barnes. Fukc I hope they do it, it will just add to the drama. All Blacks and their fans need to keep an open mind. :-). Although on second thought I don't know how open-minded I would be about the prospect of Bryce Lawrence reffing a Bok Test Match, where he still around. It's Monday and I can't wait for the weekend. Gonna be awesome. Allez le Bleus (Come on the Blues) Hope the Boks don't disappoint against the Welsh though, otherwise I am done with this tournament, just like the English.
