Middleweight championship bout: Luke Rockhold def. Chris Weidman via TKO (punches) 3:12 R2, to become the new UFC middleweight champion

It was a competitive fight at first, before Rockhold took full control in the third to hurt Weidman late in the fight, before taking Weidman down in the fourth, and pounding him until the finish.

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo (25-1) will put his title on the line against the interim-featherweight champion Conor McGregor (17-2) in the most anticipated fight in history at UFC 194.

The only featherweight champion in the history of the UFC, and undefeated in 10 years, Jose Aldo has solidified himself as the pound-for-pound kingpin in mixed martial arts.

However, Aldo will enter the octagon as a slight underdog against the brash Irishman, however he claims that makes no difference to him.

Aldo is no stranger to big fights, and is coming off a tough decision win over Chad Mendes (16-3), in a bout which was crowned as ‘fight of the year’ for 2014.

The fight with McGregor has been almost a year in the making. Aldo was set to fight McGregor at UFC 189 earlier in the year, however a rib injury forced Aldo out of the bout, and Mendes stepped in to fight for the interim belt.

Conor McGregor has found himself surrounded by fame and fortune, and he has the opportunity to silence his critics once and for all with a win over Aldo.

Undefeated in the UFC, with all but one of his wins coming via knockout, McGregor has established himself as one of the most unorthodox, unpredictable fighters on the roster, as well as generated a huge following in no time at all.

After taking out Mendes on short notice with strikes at UFC 189, and winning the interim belt in the process, McGregor also managed to establish himself as the number-one contender, and he is confident that he can take the belt away from the Brazilian.

McGregor’s movement, spin kicks and explosive left hand could put Aldo in trouble, however the champion has the most brutal kicks in the UFC, and if he can find a home for his shins on McGregor’s legs, he may slow the Irishman down enough to take the win.

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman burst onto the MMA scene when he became the man who finally dethroned Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva (33-6, 1NC). He stayed there when he beat Silva again.

Since beating Silva, Weidman has been on a task to prove himself, and with convincing wins over Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida (22-7) and Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort (25-11) in his last two title defences, Weidman has cemented his position as the king of the middleweight division.

Luke Rockhold suffered a setback in his first UFC bout, however since then he has been a wrecking machine, with four straight finishes against tough opponents.

Coming off submission wins over Machida, Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping (27-7) and Tim ‘The Barbarian’ Boetsch (18-9), Rockhold can give Weidman problems both standing up and on the ground.

Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold are the two biggest middleweights in the UFC, and are also the most evenly matched. Expect a close, fight of the night candidate no matter which way it goes.
