WATCH: Prop's gut-busting try denied by TV match official

By Roar TV / Roar Guru

Northampton tight-head prop Paul Hill pounced on the ball near the half-way line, palmed off a Leicester defender and put on the afterburners to score, or at least he thought he had.

Referee Wayne Barnes, however, saw a possible infringement before the try and went upstairs to the TMO. On replay the tackle by Luther Burrell and Tom Wood on Peter Betham looked to be rather innocuous and started on Betham’s shoulder.

But after minutes of waiting, the TMO said there was enough evidence to give a penalty to Leicester and Hill’s barnstorming run counted for nothing.

It was a pivotal moment and Leicester went on to win the Premiership match 30-27 thanks to a last minute penalty to Freddie Burns.

Pathetic really. And yet Wayne Barnes can't spot an obvious forward pass from 10m or so!

The front on camera angle did show contact to the neck. Shame was a great run. Was a great game in pretty awful conditions
