Australia vs New Zealand: How to watch the first Test streaming online and live on TV

By The Roar / Editor

After losing the three-match ODI series 2-1, Australia will be looking to continue their recent Test dominance against New Zealand when they compete in the first Test of a two-match series starting on Friday in Wellington from 8:30am (AEDT).

It has been a short break between Test series for these two nations, with the three-match series (won 2-0 by Australia) that took place at the start of the Australian summer.

Despite the series being very much split, and the Trans-Tasman trophy on offer for the winner of these two Tests, the discussion in the lead up to the summer was centred on who could emerge from the five Tests with their nose in front.

For New Zealand to drawn that ledger level, they’ll need everything to go right. However, the kind of conditions New Zealand can throw up are exactly the kind Australia have had trouble with in the recent past.

Whichever way you look at it, it’s destined to be a fantastic series.

To make sure you don’t miss a minute of the action, The Roar has compiled a complete guide to watching the match in Australia.

How to stream online

In Australia the match will be exclusive to Foxtel, this means the only way to live stream is using the Foxtel Play or Foxtel Go apps, which allow users to stream Foxtel channels.

Foxtel Go is available if you have an existing Foxtel service, however Foxtel Play is great for those who want to live-stream rather than have a traditional installation.

The Cricket Australia Live Pass will not allow you to stream the match. It only allows streaming of matches played inside Australia.

How to watch on TV

The match will be exclusively broadcast in Australia by Foxtel, and can only be viewed live on Fox Sports 2 (channel 502). Coverage will start at 8:30am (AEDT).

How to listen on radio

Our favourite choice for live cricket coverage is White Line Wireless. You can listen to this in the player below.

As always, you can follow the match live on The Roar with our live blog and head to Roar TV for post-match highlights.

Was pretty much over watching the test stuff lately (who has 5 days to sit on the couch these days?... dole bludgers??). But now you have to pay to watch this protracted slow RR game!?? Forget it! I'm moving on! ODI's and 20/20's are definitely the future!!

Cricket Australia dosen't own the rights to matches played outside of Australia, blame channel 9 or 10 for not buying the rights.

Cricket Australia should be shot for denying the great majority of us TV coverage of a "local" test match.

White Line Wireless is doing a fine job of broadcasting the 1st Test. Great shame that the ABC has dropped the ball, thank goodness there are entrepreneurial people like White Line and Guerilla Cricket ready to take up the call. ABC Grandstand has lost me for the summer.
