WATCH: 130kg lock surprises himself to score intercept try

130 kilogram lock Paul Willemse’s intercept try proved to be a critical moment in Montpellier’s two point win over Toulouse in France’s Top 14 competition.

Willemse read Toulouse’s play perfectly in defence, stealing the ball before trying to find a faster teammate to pass to. When no suitable options were available the South African realised his best bet was to go it alone and he rather reluctantly powered to the line while expecting to be tackled the whole way.

Looks like the two closest defenders were not trying to, they both backed off to cover the support runners either side. Can't blame them for falling for a dummy pass, it's clear he never had any intention of not passing until he was basically over the try line.
