WATCH: How did Bangladesh lose against India?

By Roar TV / Roar Guru

Bangladesh looked certain to defeat India at the ICC World Twenty 20, but proceeded to lose three wickets in three balls in the final over to fall agonisingly short.

Bangladesh needed just two runs with three balls remaining and four wickets in the shed when Mushfiqur Rahim holed out in the deep. Mahmudullah then couldn’t keep the ball on the ground and was caught first ball.

The sensational collapse was complete when Mustafizur Rahman was run out trying to steal a single and at least tie the match.

The one-run win by India means they’re now second on the table in group two.

It wasn't strange at all, India lost to the best team in the format playing on one of their home grounds.

India's WC should be on a knife edge had Bangladesh not had a brain fade in the final two overs. Talk about getting out of jail...or rather being handed the key by the warden of the prison. Now India will be high on morale with the Baggy Greens in their sights in a few day's time. at the spin Mecca.. Mohali.

Not going to lie, the idea of match fixing being involved does come to mind.

They didn't throw the match. When the batsmen (I don't know his name), got a 4 with that half ramp shot when it was 4 balls left, he was jumping around, fist pumping like he won the match. I just think they wanted to be the hero and hit the winning runs for Bangladesh's most famous cricket win ever.

I suppose Australia threw the game against NZ or was that a choke?

If they wanted to lose then why come so close to winning. Then to hold out in the deep deliberately. That would take some skill and risk. What if The fielder drops the catch. Woops. the other problem was the last two balls were faced by lower order batsmen who had not faced a ball. Very difficult. I am sure the Perth scorchers had a similar choke in a BBL final but just managed to scrape home when the fielding side messed up a run out on the last ball. In essence that appeared to be a double choke. Bangladesh were in two minds. They would have been better needing 4 off the last few balls. Then you are committed to the boundary.

I saw the last 3 balls of the match, only needed 1 run but lost 3 wickets. If they did not deliberately throw the match away, then they are the biggest chokers in world cricket. You can also tell Graeme Smith to join a sports team, then both of us can tell you what you can do with that advice.

There have been two things that haven't made sense so far in this T20 world cup, Pakistan' strange score against India, losing only 5 wickets and scoring a total under 120 does not make any sense. Now you have this strange collapse with the field still back, there were 2 easy singles there for the taking. The T20 world cup being in India its imperative that India makes the finals financially, , so it raises the suspicion some funny business is going on to ensure India gets to the finals.

Steve I don't entirely agree with you. There is no such thing as a "meaningless win". They are 10th in the world and to beat India who are 1st, would mean bucket loads of pride and confidence, not to mention tons of respect from the other cricket nations. And while we're on the subject, Grame Smith called Bangladesh "chokers". That's rich coming from him. If South Africa ranked 4th lost to England ranked 5th, then that's choking but Bangladesh losing to India is just bad luck. By the way Steve, go out and join a sports team to discover the real meaning and difference between winning and losing. Good luck mate.

I do feel sorry for their fans though a win against India is meaningless as they are out of the WT20. On the other hand, an Indian loss would be the end of the world for that country. I wonder.....

Must be the one of the worst collapses in cricket history given its the first Bangladesh match against India in India for 18 years, how seriously cricket is taken in that part of the world, given they were about to beat India in India in a World Cup. It would have been a historic win for Bangladesh.
