The problem for Arsenal is their approach to football in recent times. When you talk of the great Arsenal teams there were hard men to balance the finesse. Wenger has become timid in his approach and that flowed from the club's insistence on balancing the books whilst the stadium was being built. This has left them in a rut because in the close season every Premier League club will have the moolah to challenge for top players and a lot of the clubs have far more charismatic managers than Wenger.

I hope that all the pundits who were wetting themselves over Tottenham and hammering Arsenal (including a disappointing percentage of Arsenal fans themselves) will have a good hard look at themselves now. Anyone who makes claims about the season before it finishes is making a fool of themselves (that includes all the ridiculous end of season awards that happen before the end of the season). The season is for 38 rounds. It doesn't end in Feb, or April and round 38 is just as important as any that come before it. Anyone who is unhappy about coming second with clear avenues for improvement next season needs a reality check. We could be like Manchester United or Liverpool or any other number of big clubs that have fallen from the pinnacle in recent years. The thing is that once you start falling it's hard to get back without Champions League football to attract top players or the $ to pay them.

How is Ranieri "truly special"? After coaching 16 teams for 29 years he now won his first premiership... Arsene Wenger won 4 premierships, plus more Cups than Ranieri but he gets regularly criticized... It was just Ranieri's time.this year. One year, where everything fell into place. I'm not saying he was lucky, but "truly special" is something else.

I thought it was revealed a few months ago? Although it may not be official, I think the general assumption around the football world is that he will live, and if he doesn't on his accord, he may get the tap on the shoulder to. Either way I think if Arsenal are to move into that 'new era' of European and English dominance, they do need a new and fresh manager. Maybe someone like Ronald Koeman or Frank De Boer?

Arsenal spend half of the amount of the rival clubs around them, it’s little wonder that Arsene has not won anything in the billionaires club era since the mid 2000’s. (Leicester is a 1 in a 100 year event) If they sack Arsene, then Arsenal will face the same problems that United has had post Ferguson, except instead of dropping out of title contention, they will drop out of the Top 4 and become another Liverpool, Tottenham or even Newcastle (remember them always in top 4?) type club.

Damo, how can you say change isn't required. They regularly finish in the top 4 but they don't win anything. Arsene is is a good manager but the status quo cant be allowed to remain for another season while he runs down the last year of his contract. The smart move for the board is to move him to a Director of Football role or something similar and bring a new manager in ASAP. There are some very good managers around who would jump at the chance to manage Arsenal Football Club. I see Arsenal being the most vulnerable team to miss out on top 4 next season. Chelsea, City, United are going to spend all having new managers, City and Liecester are going to strengthen their squads with CL, Liverpool are going to strengthen in Klopps first summer window. The smart move is for Arsenal to do something rather than continue the same road for another season.

Hi QConners, thanks for the comment! After finishing second this season, it's a good thing for the club. How did you find out his leaving when his contract expires? Thanks again.

I don't think s change is required yet. We've seen what happens when long term managers have left other clubs so Arsenal might be gun shy. While nor winning league they did go back to back on the FA Cup 14/15, so the trophies have still been coming.

Still can't understand why St Totteringhams Day is not a declared public holiday in the UK? We'll go one better next season! In Arsene we Trust.

Well he's leaving after next season anyway when his contract expires. After what he's done for the club, and the level of consistency Arsenal have always shown in a hard league like the EPL, it would be downright disrespectful for them to sack him with one season to go. He's already said it's probably time to retire after his contract. So I say no way in hell should they let him go yet.

Hi whiskeymac, thanks for the comment! I agree with you, their excellent record is phenomenal and it's odd to say that there has been no Premier League titles in 12 years. As for your other comment, who could replace Wenger? Could anyone be as consistent?
