Could Messi, Torres and Ronaldo join the A-League?

By The Crowd / Roar Guru

World-class football players bring with them international notoriety and have in the past been a massive boost for the sport domestically.

However, has the A-League done enough to bring superstar players down under? One are which probably hasn’t been as tapped as it could have is sponsorship, particularly in relation to sponsorship.

A number of racing circuits in Australia could have their futures in doubt and V8 Supercars will henceforth be known simply as Supercars because of new entry rules.

If Supercars looks like going belly up then where could the sponsors take their money? If teams in the A-League courted their sponsors they could use the money to attract big name marquee players to Australia.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi’s parents almost immigrated to Australia so he might be interested in coming here. Fernando Torres offered to play for Sydney FC for $8 million and was turned down. Would he still be interested?

What about other possibilities, like giving players free food? Torres might like the tapas at Capitan Torres restaurant in Liverpool street and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is Portuguese so maybe we could haggle down his price with free meals at Oporto.

A V8SC team costs around $20 million a year, so where would you put your money if you were a sponsor? I know this is like comparing apples to oranges but it is interesting to think about.

yeah yeah!, but you used to post under KB and it's a lot quicker and easier than your current moniker! Is that why you changed? - always getting confused with Kevin Bartlett - a most annoying player !

I suppose you're right. Soccer fans in Australia are famous for their sense of humour. I've read it again, and it's very very funny.

It does seem a bit odd ? Only yesterday the same author had an article about ...Ugandan Solar powered buses... !!! Punter suggests it's humorous ?? - well I'll just say that Punter and I have a well documented differing sense of humour and leave it at that. The one redeeming factor is that it is a good deal shorter than many posts on this forum.

I think it has become apparent that the TV & digital network dollars are a waste of coin going to the Australian-EggThing-League. The day is fast approaching when that $2.5 billion, which they (AETL) receive will be heading to the FFA, Australian Football. Then, we will see these super stars of football coming to gracing the fields of the HAL.. I can see that day fast approaching---perhaps not in this next coming TV and digital deal, but definitely the one after. We have had one superstar come, ADP, and we will see more.

And when they come, Gallop will Salary Cap them, 25-life Hahahahah. If companies joined forces to pay these players ridiculous money, and piss the salary cap off, then it could be entertained. Ronaldo would want dancing girls, more bells and whistles.

Try reading it without fear, but with your tongue in your cheek. 'Cristiano Ronaldo is Portuguese so maybe we could haggle down his price with free meals at Oporto.' I liked it!!!!

Keep dreaming, genius... I don't even wanna go into the details...You should just study Football and the Aussie economy first, then you wouldn't write something so ridiculous.
