Moylan tells Tedesco: I want Blues No.1 jersey back

Matt Moylan has warned James Tedesco not to get too comfortable in the NSW fullback jersey after the Penrith star’s recall to the Blues’ side for State of Origin III.

Origin debutant Tedesco was preferred at fullback for Moylan for Wednesday’s game three.

Moylan only earned a reprieve after Adam Reynolds pulled out due to a shoulder injury.

He will play from the bench at ANZ Stadium as the Blues seek to avoid a series whitewash. However, the Penrith custodian has designs on reclaiming the NSW No.1 jersey.

“Definitely, it is somewhere I play club footy at and it is somewhere I am comfortable at,” Moylan said on Thursday from the Blues’ Coffs Harbour base.

“Obviously, I have played in the first two games and wanted to play in game three but it wasn’t to be.

“I wasn’t expecting to be dropped. But Teddy has been playing some real good footy for the Tigers and he has deserves his opportunity.

“I feel for Adam but, for me personally, it is exciting to be back in camp.

“There have been some highs and lows the last couple of days but I am happy to be back. That is all just a part of footy.”

Both Moylan and Jack Bird trained at first receiver on Thursday for the Blues.

Moylan is set to play a utility role from the bench for the final Origin clash of the year, with Bird joining James Maloney in the Blues’ halves in place of Reynolds.

“I will do enough work at training this week to feel comfortable whenever I am playing,” Moylan said.

“I am used to playing what is in front of me and that is the approach I will take wherever I am playing on Wednesday.”

“I just want to play some footy, a role to provide some ball for the outside men.”

You've obviously got it in for Leilua. That butter fingered, ill disciplined guy is the in form centre with the stats to back it up. ! Let's not forget Hodges had some errors in his game and was a hothead early in his career and became a premier centre.

Questionable knees? The bloke had one legit knee problem in his first season. The only other issue was splitting his knee cap from an unfortunate collision. Wouldn't exactly call that questionable... bit infair

It is pretty pointless even talking about the comparisons between these players ! They all have pros and cons ! Moylan is a skillfull ball playing fullback, with questionable defence ! Tedesco is great running fullback, with very questionable knees ! Hayne is a great running fullback with very questionable commitment to the game ! Trbojevic is a great running fullback with very questionable club selection !

Leilua is the form centre of the competition. You obviously don't have Foxtel and so haven't watched the Raiders this year. He is massive, is as fit as he has ever been, setting up Rapana with offloads as good as Beetson and as for ill disciplined.....yeah he lost the plot earlier this year when he was put on his head in a tackle, Give me someone like that over someone who can run fast (and is a turnstile in defence) any day.

Because Leilua is slow, butter fingered, and ill disciplined?

I just want to know how Jennings kept his spot when Leilua deserves it.

Hahahah you think Dugan is better than... literally any other fullback in the NRL, you must've tried to deflect bricks with your head or something, even Hopoate is better than Dugan.

Tedesco hasn't played a game and you're already calling him more lethal than the player of the series last time NSW won? I hope you didn't see that series or your reality cheque has bounced....

That's a fair summation of how I saw Moylan' first two games as well. I'm also interested to see how they'll play him. Perhaps he'll go to 5/8 and Bird will be the roaming utility.

Keep smiling for the camera Moylan. It's your only chance of a recall to fullback, and you've still got Dugan well ahead of you. And please will you stop spitting constantly it's a filthy habit.

Tedesco must be retained even in the event that Hayne returns . That is of coarse, as long as he performs well in game three and is fit next year. NSW can't continue to break the hearts of young footballers in return for giving their all . I would have preferred to see Ferguson left out and Moylan given a run in the centres. The selectors and coach just keep sending the wrong message .

Tedesco is already as lethal as Hayne ever was and far superior to Dugan or Moylan. If he goes ok in origin 3 which I expect he will even a lousy coach like Daley won't keep him out of future origin games

Knowing Daley we'll probably see Dugan back there next year, Hayne on the wing and Tedesco and Moylan dumped.

Moylan did shows glimpses of genuine class. Origin is a tough arena.

There's a lot of talk about Moylan v Tedesco but it could be a moot point. If Hayne is back in the NRL next year he'll be straight back in at fullback. By the time he's on his way out trbojevic will likely be the first choice fullback so this years series could be the only run Tedesco and Moylan get.

Alarming he couldn't see himself being dropped. Offered nothing in attack. Was out of position for a couple of tries and dodgy under the high ball. Really can't see where the hype comes from. Comparisons to Lockyer from some hacks in the media. Not only should he have been dropped he shouldn't have been recalled. Can't see a benefit to keeping him in the team. Assuming no injuries where will he play? If NSW think he can play a ultility role both he and they are in for a huge shock.
