All i want is sudden death finals….i cant stand the idea and you get to LOSE at the most important time of year and continue.

I prefer top 7 where only first place gets a week off. 8 is garbage

A six-team NRL finals system? Sure, but just one question: Who hurt you?

Theyre super close such that Bris doesnt need another team. We need 16 teams. The perfect (perhaps never doable) option is to offer a massive carrot to move a Syd team to Adelaide or Perth.

Why the NRL's plan for a 17th team looks more like exploitation than expansion

The NRL should offer a massive carrot to move one Syd team to Adelaide.

Fans of, say, the Tigers would still get to watch their team every time it visits Sydney.

Now thats expansion and we keep the ideal number of 16 teams without splitting the revenue across another team.

Why the NRL's plan for a 17th team looks more like exploitation than expansion

Another team in NSW or Qld is not expansion.

Perth has 2 million people and no team.
Adelaide 1.3 million people and no team.
NZ 5 million people and 1 team.

SE Qld has two teams.

Crowds will triple when this amazing rule comes in. Expect revenues to jump 15% too! 😂

For our next trick ... NRL considers radical kicking rule which could be trialled in round 25

Agreed, big crowds attract big crowds. Showing NRL on TV in front of empty stadiums is a PR disaster. Disaster!

If the NRL build it, will they come?

Tom, by that logic lets play NRL every week of the year.

The problem is that the Top 8 system means that games dont get much meaning until the end of the season.

Remember, Origin just has 3 games….generates massive revenue.

Quality counts. Excess quantity is bad.

If the NRL build it, will they come?

Origin has just 3 games and generates gigantic revenue for the NRL. This shows that quality matters, quantity doesnt.

If you want to fix NRL games then u must have less of them, the season is simply too long. Too many games. with the top 8 system the games dont become important until the final 7 weeks.

If the NRL build it, will they come?

Origin on friday night or sunday night.

must be dedicated weekend, no other club games.

Two weeks apart, Origin, regular NRL round, Origin, regular NRL round, Origin

solved Gary! solverized!

State of Origin is broken: Here's how to fix it

Spot on. If fans want perfect officiating then we’d have 7 refs and lots of video replays.

Referees are killing rugby league, and it's your fault

Farah?

Moylan?

no Leilua? no cred. very hard to tackle. He is better than Dugan.

My Blues team for State of Origin 2017

The thing I admire about Thurston is his motor and hustle. In defence he carries on as if every single play rests on HIS head. He isnt slack, he doesnt dawdle, he is always near the action. and a top notch goalkicker!

Johnathan Thurston: A tribute to a true champion

Controlled aggression good.

Uncontrolled aggression bad.

Zero aggression bad (Aaron Woods).

What place does aggression hold in the modern NRL?

They are the big faux (French for false)!

I dont rate Aaron Woods that highly, he never hits hard in defence and runs without passion. His hippy hairdo speaks volumes.

The Tigers halves are defensive turnstyles unfortunately.

Supply and demand: Is the Tigers' best Big Four solution to say toodle-oo to Tedesco?

I believe Woods is lazy and lacks fire and passion. His hits dont hurt, his runs dont hurt. He is the anti-Klemmer.

He isnt captain material. Very over rated prop.

Are Brooks, Moses, Tedesco and Woods off to the Bulldogs?

You do highlight a genuine problem. Is the contest about sport or is it about promoting a social cause. Alas to me its the latter, its a well-meaning feel-good exercise.

its not an actual sporting contest. the All Stars team is just a hodge podge of anyone. this game doesnt reflect a real life rivalry like NSW v Qld does. Its completely artificial.

Why the All Star clash must stay a permanent fixture

Happy to keep the All Stars game if we abolish City-Country.

Why the All Star clash must stay a permanent fixture

physical talent can make a person lazy. look at Kyrgios and, back in the day, Phillipoussis.

If Dave Taylor can break into the Raiders side, watch out for the Green machine

Agreed x10.

NFL is much harder than NRL….except for the cardio aspect. NRL cardio demands are clearly much much harder.

New NFL teams in Taumalolo, Holmes hunt

hehe, spoken like a true Sydneysider!

Per capital Raiders crowds actually trump Broncos crowds.

John Quayle is the perfect alternative to John Grant

because the NRL gives us the terrible timeslots.

Spoken like a true Sydneysider.

Newsflash Gary, us Canberrans dont want a bar of your ARLC nor Channel 9.

We will happily defect to any new league just like we did in 1995.

We will happily rid ourselves of hopeless Sydneysiders who cant run a football league.

Sorry Gary, RL exists outside of Sydney.

How rugby league was stolen by self-interested clubs

NswRL, we have know it all along. Its not an NRL. its a NswRL.

The NswRL is poorly run and has poor crowds.

It doesnt need to be that way.

Let the clubs run the NRL. Let the ARLC run everything else.

John Quayle is the perfect alternative to John Grant

The failure of the IOC, FIFA and World Athletics Fed show us that the all-powerful governing body the European tradition, is a failure.

The NFL, American style of sports admin is clearly best practise.

The 16 NRL clubs should appoint the NRL.

As a Raiders fan we want NOTHING to do with the NRL or Channel 9. We want complete autonomy and independence from Sydney.

Sydneysiders cannot run sporting leagues, its been shown time and time again. Melbournites certainly can. The AFL runs rings around us.
