Track cycling results - morning qualification Day 6: Women's sprint, omnium, men's keirin Rio Olympics live blog

By Brendon Vella / Roar Guru

The final day of the track cycling starts with a hectic morning session, where the men start their quest for Keirin glory, whilst the women are on track in the Omnium and the Sprint quarterfinals. Join The Roar for a live blog from 11pm (AEST).

Women’s Sprint Quarter-Finals 11pm
Australia has no representatives in the final 8, after Anna Meares and Steph Morton failed to impress in the early rounds.

However, there is still some quality riders on show, including Chinese World Champion in this discipline, Zhong Tiashi, silver medalist from the Keirin Rebecca James, and gold medalist from the Kierin, Dutchwomen Elis Ligtlee.

The final event of the morning session will be the sprint for positions 5-8.

Men’s Keirin – 11:18 pm
After finishing outside the medals in the Sprint, Matt Glaetzer has one final opportunity to take glory here in the Keirin. He finished outside the top 12 in this event at the World Championships in March and will be looking to turn around Australia’s misfortune on the track.

The British have dominated the track so far this week, with Jason Kenny looking for more gold to add to his ever-growing tally of success.

Also watch out for the other Australian in the field, Patrick Constable, who impressed in the sprint by getting to the final 8.

Women’s Omnium – Flying Lap – 11:57 pm
After dominating the first three events, Laura Trott will be looking to continue her form in the shortest and most explosive event on the Omnium schedule, the flying lap.

If Australian Annette Edmondson is to take a medal from these games, she will need to be inside the top three in this event. This and the 500m time trial to come in the afternoon session is where she usually comes into her own.

Being a sprinter on the road for the Wiggle High 5 team, she should be in her element in a one lap effort of the track. Also watch out for her teammate on the road, Belgium’s Jolien D’Hoore, who put in a superb ride in the individual pursuit to leave herself second, only eight points behind Laura Trott.

It's funny, everyone complains about the app but I haven't had a real problem with it apart from a few commentary glitches here and there. Strange.

I hear you Brendan, app keeps going round in circles and TV coverage has events jumping from channel to channel, or sometimes the same thing on two channels. Except the equestrian, the producer obviously likes that one.
