By Josh / Expert

The results are in! We asked Roarers to help us name our DIY All-Australian team for season 2016, and now we have put together the results for everyone to see.

The Roar’s DIY 2016 All-Australian team
B: Dane Rampe, Alex Rance, Daniel Talia
HB: Heath Shaw, Jeremy McGovern, Corey Enright
C: Dustin Martin, Joel Selwood, Luke Parker
HF: Toby Greene, Lance Franklin, Cyril Rioli
F: Eddie Betts, Josh J Kennedy, Tom J Lynch
Fol: Max Gawn, Patrick Dangerfield, Rory Sloane
Int: Marcus Bontempelli, Dan Hannebery, Lachie Neale, Josh P Kennedy

Captain: Joel Selwood
Vice-captain: Rory Sloane

Our voting gave us a pretty clear indication as to which players can be considered locks for the team according to our Roarers, with Patrick Dangerfield, Eddie Betts, Lance Franklin, Max Gawn and Josh J Kennedy being the top five most-voted-for players on the list.

Our most unlucky player in the crop was Adam Treloar who received a vote from 49 per cent of responders but just didn’t quite fit in due to the high number of elite midfielders named in the squad.

Roarers also had their say about those members of the squad of 40 who were clearly not in the running – Jasper Pittard was our least-voted-for player, getting the nod from just 6 per cent of responders, while Adelaide’s Tom T Lynch didn’t do much better with just eight per cent.

None of our write-in options got enough votes to qualify for the team unfortunately but Roarers did put up a variety of interesting options who didn’t make the AFL’s squad of 40.

Nick Riewoldt was by far the most popular choice here but others to be mentioned included Ben Stratton, Easton Wood, Zach Merrett, Zac Williams, Heath Grundy, Patrick Cripps, Robbie Gray and Todd Goldstein.

The AFL will name their official All-Australian team later tonight – but we’re sure ours is much better.

Thanks to all who voted, and keep Roaring!

.. and I'd have Shannon Hurn above every half vack flanker...of the last five years...and certainly this year.

The lack of Laird is infuriating. He most certainly had a better year than Talia, can play on the smaller forward, rebounds with 85% accuracy or more. Selwood didn't have an AA year from what I saw.

Nailed it (though Robbie Gray would be as good as half a dozen of the midfielders in that team).
