Minnesota Vikings vs Green Bay Packers: NFL live scores, blog

By Riley Pettigrew / Roar Guru

Sunday Night Football is set to be fierce with the Minnesota Vikings hosting their rivals the Green Bay Packers at the all-new US Bank Stadium. Join The Roar from 10:30am (AEST) for live coverage.

There is plenty of fanfare surrounding the traditional rivalry to be played in front of a 65,000 strong crowd with the Vikings Skol Chant to be debuted after being made famous by the Icelandic national football team (and Canberra Raiders’ NRL side).

While the pre-game and halftime festivities will spark something special for the Vikings, the main aim will be on the field in a bid to go 2-0 after defeating the Titans 25-16 in week 1.

Minnesota’s defense held very strong finishing the week No.1 in defensive power rankings conceding just 64 rushing yards.

They will have a tough task ahead of them with the Packers offering a much tougher challenge than the Marcus Mariota led Titans after defeating the Jaguars 27-23.

Green Bay held off a late comeback from the Jaguars who attempted to steal the game in the dying moments.

Despite having not played in more than a year, Jordy Nelson played well racking up 32 yards from six receptions as well as a touchdown meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers had 20/34 completions, throwing for 199 yards and two touchdowns.

Both sides need to lift with Sam Bradford expected to be given the go-ahead by Mike Zimmer.

With four years at the Rams and one at the Eagles, Bradford joins the Vikings after Teddy Bridgewater was ruled out for the season.

Shaun Hill started the season last week with 18 completions from 33 attempts and 236 passing yards to his name.

With little time to settle in, Bradford has a tough task on his hands but the 2008 Heisman winner is capable of taking on the Packers.

The rivalry between these two NFL heavyweights dates back to 1961 with 111 meetings between the two. The Packers lead with a 59-50-2 record against the Vikings.

The Packers won 30-13 in Minneapolis last year while the Vikings prevailed in Green Bay 20-13 to take the latest win in the Minnesota versus Wisconsin feud and claim the division title for the first time since 2009, breaking the Packers’ four-year streak.

Prediction
The Vikings will open the new US Bank Stadium with a close win over their rivals.

Vikings by 4.

The Packers are out of the picture again this season. Fumbles Rodgers always gives them some chance but unless he's performing miracles they can't score enough and their defence is pitiful.
