By Isaac Nowroozi / Roar Guru

Match result:

The Sydney Rays recorded a dominant win over the UC Vikings on Saturday, running away with a 44-point victory.

Final score
Sydney Rays 58
UC Vikings 14

Match preview:

Second-placed Sydney Rays will be looking to make up ground on the New South Wales Country Eagles when they host the University of Canberra Vikings.

Coming off a tough six-point win over defending champions Brisbane City, the Sydney Rays have clearly been the second-best team in the competition, bested only by the NSW Country Eagles.

Lochie Creagh and Harry Jones will both be welcomed back into the squad, however it is still unclear whether or not Josh Turner will return to full back, as he is yet to get over a minor back injury.

Chris Alcock will have a chance to prove himself against last year’s grand finalists, as he makes his first start for the Rays.

Coming off a 16-point loss to Melbourne Rising in a high-scoring affair, the UC Vikings will be looking to get back to winning form against an on-form side.

The Vikings lost the Horan-Little shield in their last outing, however losing this game would sting more, as it could see them out of the top four.

Speaking of ‘Horan’, Wallabies legend Tim Horan’s son Alex will be on the bench, and could make his NRC debut.

The last time these two sides faced off was during last season, where the UC Vikings defeated the Rays by 26 points away from home.

Prediction
The Sydney Rays are in form, and the Vikings have been inconsistent. If the Vikings bring their A-game however, this is a very winnable game.

Great try to Fitzpatrick. By the time he retires will have run 60 m for that try.
