Mundine vs Green 2: Come on boys, hurry it up!

By BigJ / Roar Guru

The never ending saga of Anthony Mundine vs Green has taken yet another turn with apparently no location confirmed for the fight.

Green is wanting it to happen in either Melbourne or Perth, while Mundine wants Sydney. They have agreed on a catchweight of 83kg, clearly an advantage to Green, but a location in favour of one or the other may prove another.

While both fighters have fought in Melbourne previuosly, with both having success Perth would clearly be hometown for Green.

As Mundine has not fought since 11 November last year and with Green only fighting in August and winning against Kane Watts for the Australia Cruiseweight Title, the in-ring adavantage is with Green.

Another point of delay is that Mundine is still recovering from his recent hip surgery, and reports say that he wants to wait until May next year to be 100% fit for the fight. This delay would make it an 11-year gap between fights. This is now getting beyond the joke.

Both of these men are on the wrong side of 40 and a way past their primes, yet they seem to be in no hurry to get this fight done. It will be literally Christmas before these two get their act together, and if they don’t hurry up and get it done, it will be like Fenech v Nelson 3, watching two old boxers slap each other.

How much longer are these two going to dance around each other and act like two kids in high school waiting to fight each other? In fact that would happen a lot quicker…

Another factor is that the public are only going to wait so long before interest diminishes, so these two need to strike while the iron is still luke warm. No doubt the quality of this fight will not be at the same calibre of the last fight, but at the moment it is still worth a look.

Seriously major title fights don’t take this long to organise and this is now major title fight. So hurry up blokes; none of us are getting any younger so stop mucking around!

mate, you were dead set right from the get go. One the fight never should of happened, two it should of been stopped in the first round and three it was the absolute farce of 2017, the worst boxing event since Green v Briggs, funny that Green is apart of two of the worst fights in aussie history.

Well Green doesn't fight anyone that doesn't fall over early. I missed his last fight but the previous half dozen were hopeless. These guys don't mind taking money off anyone stupid enough to pay them.

This sham of a bout is nothing more than a grab for money by two people who have exhausted every other option. Anyone who reaches into their pocket for this garbage will find themselves very disappointed. Dont take my word for it.... you only have to look back on their careers to realize the proof is in the pudding....
