After failing to find all three points in recent performances, Everton finally found some form with a stunning win over Arsenal in their last fixture.
Despite going a goal down in the first 20 minutes, Seamus Coleman managed to equalise before Ashley Williams found the back of the net late to give their side the 2-1 win at home.
Now, Everton will be looking for their second big upset in a row over bitter rivals Liverpool, who they haven’t beaten in more than five fixtures, only scoring twice in all those games.
Liverpool find themselves with a game in hand in third place, and a win would see them leapfrog Manchester City and take second place on the Premier League table.
Coming off a dominant win over Middlesbrough away from home, the Reds earned their first Premier League win since late November.
Adam Lallana scored twice, before Divock Origi nailed Middlesbrough’s coffin to give the Reds the 3-nil win.
Liverpool will have history on their side, their recent performances against Everton both at Goodison Park and at Anfield have proven that Merseyside is indeed red, and with so much to play for the Reds intend to keep it that way.
The last time these two sides played was in April. Origi, Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho all found the net to give Liverpool the 4-nil win at home.
Prediction
Both sides seem to be on form, and the Merseyside derby is known for providing fireworks when both teams come in off the back of momentum. Liverpool have been showing some holes in defence, and if Everton remain on form, they could surprise the Reds at home. Expect a close fixture either way.
