Roar LIVE is back with a special ‘Just how screwed are we?’ edition as the Australian cricket team stares down the barrel of inevitable humiliation.
Or not?
Who knows?
(We do, we’re going to get pumped.)
But while defeat might seem inescapable, we do have some control over just how badly we get beaten.
So the two questions we’re asking you are (get your answers in the comments):
1. Who are the players you really don’t want to see put on the whites for Thursday’s Test? And which players would you save from the chopping block?
2. Pretend you’re tasked with the unenviable job of coaching Australia, what’s your grand strategy to pull off an upset win (or you know, make us lose by less)?
We’ll get to your answers, as well as the panel’s, Wednesday morning at 8:15am (AEDT).
We’re also going to be playing our chat about the upcoming series with veteran broadcaster and Roar Expert Glenn Mitchell, but if you can’t wait until tomorrow, you can check out a snippet of it in the player above.
Roar Live will be streamed Wednesday morning on The Roar’s Facebook page. It will also be available as a podcast on Soundcloud and iTunes.

I asked you first. You missed both points.

There are more than 10 all-rounders that are currently better than Mitch Marsh. How many chances do you give one player just because of his surname? how many marriages have you been through?

Finch ended up losing his spot. Hohns has just replaced Marsh because everyone was baying for his blood and now Hohns is in the gun. There is no way you will be satisfied with the next one, either. If a player you don't like gets a game, you'll call for the next selector to be sacked. How many marriages have you gone through?

ODI whitewash against South Africa - lame excuses, no repercussions, in fact the poorly performing players e.g Finch retained their spots for Chappel Hadlee Test white wash against Sri Lanka - lame excuses, no repercussions except making a scapegoat of Burns and Khawaja when in fact all the batsmen that played the first 2 tests were pretty bad. Test series defeat against South Africa - finally some change only when their job was on the line. Glaring errors in the Chappel Hadlee series loss and now again leading into India test series. Hohns needs to be sacked first (every one forgets about this bloke!), then Lehman, then Howard!

Ian Harvey? Medium pace full tosses?

Only 5 innings. He was very good in the NZ ODI series. Very good in India so far. A 52 average is good form. It's what we want. So that's T20, ODI, and four day cricket. Great versatility. Got anything else?

After seeing the pitch on the telly earlier my batting order would be: Warner Renshaw Kawaja Smith S.Marsh Handscome Wade Starc O'Keefe Hazlewood Lyon Stratagies: Batsmen occupy the crease for long periods & the bad balls will come to score off, & to look to rotate the strike inbetween. Fast bowlers bowl full & in short spells, longer if ball is swinging or reversing. Spin bowlers attack the stumps & be patient.

And how many of those innings were in the big bash, we all saw how badly hewas out of form against Pakistan in the one day series, its time to let go of Mitch Marsh freo,

Warner Renshaw Smith Marsh Handscomb Maxwell Wade O'keefe Starc Hazlewood Swepson (Play Swepson because Indians dont like unknown bowlers. Plus the kid can really rip it off the turf) No need to play Lyon as he will leak runs and the Indians bat all the way with right handers. Strategies: Bowl wicket to wicket all the time. Look for bowled and LBW. Not many nicks on offer in India. Defensive fields & Attacking lines for the quicks ALWAYS have a deep point and a deep square leg. Starve the indians of boundaries. Let them come to you. Spinners need to bowl slowely (specially Lyon - if he plays) with more side spin. (Hope they have learned some of that by now). Batsman need to stay low and NEVER go back to play unless its absolutely short. (May be not all batsman prefers this. Martyn 2004 went back and backed his eye.) and lastly... ALWAYS PRAY.

Pathetic how politics and ‘Boofheadness’ is ruining our cricket

Agree with the sentiments Bill but no matter which 11 pull on the baggy green, we are getting flogged this series.

Khawaja for renshaw, rest looks good

"Wait and see" is a good idea. The "delusional" call might be premature. This is what sporting contests are about and it is what predictions are about. Riordan invited predictions...not soothsaying.

I would have Khawaja at 3 and smith at 4 assuming you pick renshaw, if you don't then Khawaja comes in to open with marsh at 4

Khawaja Warner and smith have been the backbone of the batting so Khawaja is a must in that side preferably as opener

Do you deny they are his figures? This stat is a response to Arky's comment above: "Mitch Marsh shouldn’t even be in consideration. He’s been given a ton of chances, failed, and hasn’t earned his way back yet."

1st test Warner Renshaw SMarsh Smith Handscombe MMarsh Wade O'Keefe Starc Lyon Hazelwood We will end up with some wild like Warner SMarsh Maxwell Smith Handscombe Wade MMarsh Agar O'Keefe Starc Swepson All without our 2 most consistent Test Cricketers Bird & Khawaja won't play a Test. Yet our evenly inconsistent Cricketers Marshs will continue to be inconsistent and have minimal impact but continue to be picked to conditions while we get flogged by an innings in two tests and over 150 runs in the over two.

A daunting task indeed for the green and gold. i suspect if we have any chance of nagging a win from this series Warner will need to overcome his batting deficiencies in the sub-continent. If Warner and Renshaw can provide a good platform the big totals will come. the problem will be taking 20 wickets per game... good luck to the boys prediction India to get up 2-1
