Brisbane Roar assistant coach Ross Aloisi will soon find out if he will face charges for allegedly assaulting a rival A-League coach.
Aloisi allegedly struck Adelaide United assistant Jacobo Ramallo in the tunnel after the Roar’s controversial last-gap loss in Adelaide on Sunday.
Football Federation Australia (FFA) hierarchy are expected to detail on Monday what, if any, charges Aloisi will face after receiving reports about the incident.
FFA were expecting reports from the match commissioner at Adelaide’s Coopers Stadium on Sunday, as well as from the respective clubs.
The Roar released a statement late on Sunday night stating their intention to fully cooperate with FFA, though declined to comment further “until speaking to those involved and a thorough investigation is concluded”.
The incident happened after the Roar were left seething at losing because of what their head coach John Aloisi said was a poor decision.
The Roar slipped to a 2-1 loss after Brisbane goalkeeper Michael Theo was controversially sent off in one of the last acts of the game.
Theo was red-carded for elbowing Adelaide defender Dylan McGowan in the sixth minute of what was meant to be five minutes of stoppage time.
Adelaide’s Sergio Cirio then slotted a 98th-minute penalty to deliver the Reds a win.
Adding injury to insult for Brisbane, captain Matt McKay is unlikely to play again this season after suffering medial ligament damage to his right knee during the game.
“Matty, I think, is out for at least six weeks with his medial which is again something we just have to deal with,” John Aloisi said.
“It’s unlucky for Matty because he has been brilliant for us the whole season and he’s our leader. So other boys need to step up now.”

In this case jb the source of the rumour is known. It's the same source that generated the Maclaren's "signed for Wanderers" story . Both rumours emerging in the week before Roar played the respective clubs - you would have though a journalist could have found more to write about lol. However the source of much of the friction between the two assistant coaches seems to have had its roots in this rumour, so someone believed it.

Better to totally renew Brisbane Roar. Broich will leave in a heroic way. The new marquees are laughable. Maclaren is leaving. It just took one and half years for Brisbane Roar to become the strongest in 2010. So, renew the coaching team also.

My understanding is the ball is in play because it didn't go out of play - i.e. it wasn't a goal kick. Theo committed a foul, therefore penalty. Having said that, I think McGowan committed the 1st foul so it should've been. Foul to Brisbane Yellow Card to McGowan Red Card to Theo. Brisbane takes the free kick.

I thought it was something along the lines of any foul in the box is a penalty. The only exception is obstruction which would result in an indirect kick in the box. Theo's indiscretion would have been violent conduct so hence a pen. Harsh I know.

Somewhat off topic...A question for the Rules of Football aficionados...notwithstanding the foul by the ADL player...as the GK had the ball securely in his hands, and the ball was otherwise 'not in play'...is a penalty the correct decision if the Ref saw a foul by the GK while in 'possession', or should an "indirect free kick" have been the result?

Lionheart- As you succinctly put it ,Ross is reported to be a "defensive" coach. If that description is to be taken literally,what Roar have needed since this season's start is an "attacking" coach. No sign of that yet ,but you are entitled to ask , why? It could be argued that in Luke De Vere coming back and Sane Steff retiring, the defence had to show some improvement,,which it did, but with the goals drying up in front of them ,could an "attacking " coach help????. Waz - The fact that JA's contract is just about "out" could be the reason behind the "rumour "(your word) that circulated recently about a huge offer that had been made by Adelaide to secure his services,a statement hotly denied by the club within hours. From where did that "rumour "source? In my experience in the game this is what used to be known as "the old soldiers trick" a rather demeaning description for a political agenda used in business all over the world today. Let some information "slip" to an ever present publicity media ,who are not renowned for their ability to investigate such claims before making them public. The problem for the interested fan is, who originated the "rumour",is it the soon to be out of contract coach,is it a lazy journalist, or is it the management team of a club struggling and hoping to "publicise" their interest.???? Yes, but hasn't Ross Aloisi been the defence coach? if so looks to me like he's done a good job from last year. Our number of fouls has increased, that's my sense anyway, with Ross and fans don't like that, but I think our scoring is more a player/selection issue than coaching.

Kaks - I'd say that's the tact most people would take to be honest, but there is a question mark there. JA hasn't yet signed a new contract and it's got nothing to do with Adelaide and everything to do with something overseas. If JA stays a new assistant is probably a good thing, there is a persistent weakness in Roars play (last year they couldn't defend, this year they can't score) and a shake up in the coaching staff is probably the way to go.

It will be interesting to see (if he's found guilty which seems likely unless the media are way off) whether Roar stick by him or let him go. And if he goes whether JA has the appetite to stay on or chance his arm overseas in Spain?

Fair cop, he did play Serie G for a season. Would say any chance Ross had of coaching Adelaide United is now gone.

How this germ has a career in coaching is beyond me, not just because he is a horrible man, but because it is obvious his football 'knowledge' is limited.
