Blues better Bulls 38-14

By Connor Bennett / Editor

A dominant second half from the Blues earned them a bonus point and a much-needed win after a rough few weeks against New Zealand opposition.

Despite a scrappy but still tight opening 40 which saw the two sides take a 7-7 stalemate into the halftime break, it was all the Blues in the second stanza.

They piled on five tries and 31 unanswered points in the second half. The only solace for the Bulls was a try after the fulltime siren to slightly soften the blow.

Although there were plenty of scrappy periods of play, it was an overall entertaining game of rugby, highlighted by the fact there was eight tries and zero penalty goals throughout the game.

Final score

Blues 38
Bulls 14

they still lack lineout options other than Patric. Also not sure if the fullback is that good. Interesting how Duffie has come up , after becoming famos for getting rolled over by Nandolo last season and hardly playing there after :)

He should not be too upset with the first half. That was a good shift of softening up the big Bulls. The platform was laid on the first half.

Tana would be still upset with the first half , but he must have given his team an earful at the interval. Once this Blues team confidence is up, they are just great to watch.

Yeah, all NZ sides making the finals is a bit of a stretch but, worse things have happened.....

Hello OB Blues really turned it on in the second half. Impressive stuff all over the park. If the Blues plays like that more often than not, they will be dangerous. I don't think it is possible for all five Kiwi sides to make the finals. SA have three spots, so there is only five left and one place is for the winner in the OZ conference. The interesting question now is can the Kiwi sides do the big grand slam? Beating all OZ sides during regular season. That would be the ultimate white wash :)

Just saw my recording and wow.....where the hell, has that game, been hiding?? Well done Blues - lessons were learned from last week especially, that a game goes for 80mins. You played out the full course and guess what, it was your opponent who struggled, to keep up. Great tries in those last two efforts - catch, draw and pass never fails if, it's executed to perfection. Let's see more of this and who knows, all NZ sides could make the finals.....bit of a stretch but then, it just needs some imagination and belief. I think, I saw both facets in play tonite. Oh and btw, good to see the bro's in the pack, lift their game. Good times are comin'.....haha!!
