Kings edge Jaguares in Super Rugby classic

By News / Wire

Southern Kings have held on to beat Jaguares 31-30 in their Super Rugby clash at the Estadio Jose Amalfitani in Buenos Aires.

Friday’s game was the first competitive game for both sides after a month-long break for internationals.

The home side led 20-14 at halftime but tired in the second half.

Many of the Jaguares players have just finished three weeks of Test duty for Argentina.

The Jaguares, who scored five tries to the Kings’ four, still could have pulled out a win but Joaquin Diaz Bonilla missed a sideline conversion in the 75th minute before the hosts lost a lineout while threatening to score in the final minute.

Both teams have won five of 13 games this season and have long been out of the running for a finals spot.

Munster v Leinster, Leinster v Ulster, Leinster v Ospreys are good match ups. The other problem that the Kings have is that players are on short term contracts and some have already signed for the Cheetahs

Fair enough... Either way I will actually watch the pro 12 if the Kings are in it...otherwise the NH teams alone aren't much good to watch play each other.

'Surely they will dominate the Pro12 next season.' Not necessarily. It's debatable that they will have their depth as they have to have a squad to compete in the Currie Cup and Super Sport Rugby Challenge during the Pro 12 season

I'm sorry but a Jaguares side that contains 22 of the 23 as capped Argentinian Pumas is just the national side by another name and has no business being in a provincial competition like Super Rugby.

Sanchez had a very good game at FH. Lovely try And grubber kicks... Just the goal kicking....4 missed conversions and 2 missed penalties between himself and Bonilla You can't win games with that poor a display from the tee.. Kings got to be the suprise team of the season...6 wins now. Surely they will dominate the Pro12 next season. One thing is certain is that if they are in the pro12 it's alot more watchable... kings one of the best teams to watch play
