Essendon will have their hands full during the AFL trade period, with Devon Smith, Adam Saad and Jake Stringer all understood to have requested trades to the club.
The Bombers have been the frontrunners to land Stringer since the Western Bulldogs put him on the trade table at the end of a tough season for the 23-year-old.
Smith, who is off contract, was overlooked for the Greater Western Sydney preliminary final side that fell to Richmond and had been seeking a trade back to home state Victoria.
Saad, also originally from Victoria, is on the move from Gold Coast to be closer to his family.
The 23-year-old has played 48 games in three seasons for the Suns after being elevated off the rookie list in 2015 and is contracted until the end of next year.
Stringer, a premiership player last year and an All-Australian in 2015, was put up for trade by the Dogs after a torrid campaign in which he battled form, fitness and off-field issues.
Smith struggled with a knee injury late in the season, but he was an emergency for the preliminary final with GWS coach Leon Cameron preferring now-retired veteran Steve Johnson.
St Kilda, Geelong, Carlton and Collingwood were also reported to have interest in signing the 24-year-old who has played 109 games in five seasons with the Giants.
The trio would provide a huge boost to John Worsfold’s line-up but Essendon face a tough task to land all three, holding picks 11, 28, 46, 65 and 83 at this year’s draft.
The Bombers also have the option of trading out picks at next year’s draft or including a current player in any potential deals.

Not sure Suns would go for that. They'd want a second round pick for Saad, maybe just 11 for 19 and Saad.

A lot of commentators saying that Saad is only worth a 3rd round pick. Talk that Dons will trade picks 11 and 28 to Suns in return for 19, 24 and Saad. Then use 19 for Stringer and 24 for Smith.

Smith is worth substantially more than pick 28, Saad is worth more than next year's second round pick.

If they don't use pick 11 you'd think they'd be trading their future 1st rounder. That wouldn't be a good idea with next years draft considered stronger. I can see Essendon stuffing this up with a series of low ball offers and other clubs coming in late.

Trade 11 first to GC for Saad, they have heaps of 2nd rounders they can send the other way to get the other deals done.

Mattyb - the bombers have reportedly ruled out using pick11 but I agree that is what it shouldn't take to get all 3, but it is a big cost

Looks like Essendon are becoming a destination club again,good on them. Stringer hasn't nominated them yet but that could come tomorrow. Stringer pick 11,Smith 28 and next years second for Saad easilily gets the deals done.Good chance for Dodoro to improve his rep also. One Essendon fan (apologies for not remembering exactly who) has made some good points about Dodoro which I respected,could be a huge trade period for the mighty bombers.

Going to be ingesting to see how the bombers manage to land all 3, 2018 draft is supposed to be good so trading future picks couldn't be expensive.
