Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan are absolute legends of their respective sports, but last Sunday afternoon Tom Brady surpassed Peyton Manning’s record for most regular season wins.
He now has 187 wins, making him potentially the greatest NFL player of all time and worthy of being mentioned alongside those legends.
Brady has five Super Bowls. These titles alone have begged the question – is he the greatest of all time? The 40-year-old Brady has only seemed to have got better with age, he averages a 63 per cent passing rate, putting him in elite company with over 60,000 passing yards. Brady’s legacy also includes a four-time Super Bowl MVP which is almost enough to classify him as the best.
Brady’s legacy does come with its bleak moments as well, after being accused of deflating a game ball (making it easy to handle) back in 2015 and being suspended for four games. It cost his New England Patriots upward of four million dollars and the fiasco that followed did nothing to help his reputation.
Brady’s nature and leadership make him a valuable team player within the confines of the Patriots club. He has a nature of approachability which really benefits younger, more inexperienced players at the club.
Super Bowl LI was one of the greatest Super Bowls of all time, if not the greatest. The Patriots went in at halftime down 21-3. The game didn’t improve for New England after the break, early on in the third Tevon Coleman gave the Falcons at 25-point lead, which should have been enough to seal the game.
It turned dramatically after that, with Brady rallying his men to turn the game on its head and hand back the Patriots’ way with an overtime win.
Brady currently holds every major Super Bowl passing record in addition to the most appearances by a quarterback. He passed Joe Montana – a player considered to be the best player of all time – for Super Bowl wins and MVP awards.
Brady’s start to the 2017-18 season has been exceptional and, no doubt, he has got another one or two Super Bowls in him if the Patriots played at the standard they have replicated for the past five years under Bill Belichick. If that happens, Brady could potentially be in line to hold every regular and postseason passing record
Amazingly, Tom Brady is still going strong in the NFL, starting the 17-18 season off to a flyer and showing no signs of slowing down. There are legitimately no limits on how great Brady will be when he finishes up.
Brady himself talks down the claims of being the greatest of all time, with humility and respect that he has shown throughout his career. If Brady doesn’t get inducted into the hall of fame in the future, it would be a major injustice.
It’s fair to say the Tom Brady has a legitimate claim to being the best quarterback of all time, whether he is the best player ever remains to be seen.

Every quarterback for at least the past 10 years has used Brady as the benchmark in excellence in that position and there's been some outstanding players in that position; the Mannings, Drew Brees, Favre, Rodgers, Rothlisberger, etc. All would agree Brady is the best and should be a lock for Hall of Fame, first time up. If Brady isn't the best of all time so far, can't think who would be better.

He's already the best, his performances are unparalleled. You can only imagine the numbers he would have put up playing in a dome in Indy, instead of cold weather in New England outdoors. His teams have often also featured more running game and less receiving talent than Manning teams. Imagine what he would have done with years and years of Harrison and Reggie Wayne?
