Nemesis - If you want to be pedantic about the scoring of goals you have to remember that the game of football has two basic units,that of defending (no ball),,and that of attacking,(having the ball) If this is accepted then if follows that when a goal is scored, somewhere,somehow,someone, a "defender" has not being doing his job properly, and contrary to that when a goal is scored the attacking team have exploited that error ,using their skills, resulting in a goal.being scored. Exactly. Bes' goal was instinct and a striker's goal......but somehow Rhys Williams was out of position or whatever for the Roar goal.

I can agree with that. Neither goal was “inexplicable” is my point - the author and some others seem to find it strange Brisbane scored against Victory.

I liked BRFC's goal because it was well worked and I liked Vuck's goal because it was well taken. Both good goals for different reasons.

Fox Sports always have and always will have a bias towards the Melbourne and Sydney teams because it is their biggest market comprising half of the total population and most likley more than half of their subscribers. I thought the commentary was a bit biased too but it didnt spoil my enjoyment of what was a good game in teh end. Both teams will do better this season than the table suggests.

Correct Punter. And then of course we look to the “independent” experts to provide that less biased insight and either agree or disagree with them lol. The commentary last night was “what a great Bes goal” with no mention of the marker dropping off the most lethal striker in the competition giving him a free shot 7 meters from goal. The Roar goal though was dissected to the point where every defender was at fault despite it being a classic training ground move executed with pace and precision. That seemed unfair? Now pretty much every goal has a defensive lapse in it somewhere to be honest - but if Fox are to be more than cheerleaders for one team they need a higher level of analysis than what was offered at the weekend imo.

It comes across as not being from Sydney or Melbourne, but I can't help but think their innate bias permeates through all their commentary calls. It is quite off-putting. I wouldn't mind some more commentary on Bautheac who I think is playing well. All I heard was about Leroy George and the players MV have missing and their attacking weaponry coming back. How many original first choice players are the Roar missing. Yet this was all about MV hopefully getting their first win when both teams both haven't won a game yet. Anyway - we got a point away from home.

So, you're saying MVFC's goal was due to defensive lapse by Brisbane, but Brisbane's goal was due to superb attacking intent? And, you think FoxSports are biased in their analysis?

Watching the Fox Sport Sunday shootout last night Lionheart, on the plus side O’Toole made Bozza’s team of the week (along with Young) which was good - in many reports you wouldn’t even know a promising young kid had made an impressive debut. On the downside they only spent about 30 seconds analysing the game and put Bes’s goal down to individual brilliance (rather than a defensive lapse leaving the leagues top marksman unmarked) and Roars goal was put down to Victory’s many defensive mistakes (rather than the attacking side moving the ball at pace and with purpose). It beggars belief what these “experts” are paid to do

Agreed. If you’re from Brisbane the commentators were nothing more than cheerleaders for Victory, I swear they wet their pants with excitement when Victory scored. Neither side had much to write home about, clearly there’s some systemic issues in both squads. But yet further proof from Young that Aloisi playing favourites with Theo is akin to playing Russian roulette in a Moscow backstreet vodka bar -it’s bad for your health. O’Toole was long overdue a debut but didn’t he take it well, and Pepper proved useful as stand-in CB. Bautheac looks the goods and Skapetis too, but if they can’t figure out how to get Maccarone the ball in the right area they’ll continue to lose/draw. And Caletti back in a more advanced position started to look like his normal self. Much work to do - but it’s all coaching, the only question is will the Aloisi’s leave their egos at home tomorrow and actually coach a sensible game plan?

Waz it's really sucking the enjoyment and excitement out of the game. The only fix is a red card but FIFA won't go with that so we have the let's share a yellow caper. Fans are suffering and people are walking. Problem for us is in Australia people have choices and will walk where as in other parts of the world football is it. I am in no doubt if something is not done about this rubbish HAL will be in really big trouble and once a fan walks it is very hard to get them back.

inexplicable for some commentators Waz, 'cos they barely acknowledge Roar was on the park let alone in the game. I listened very carefully last night to the Fox crew. What rubbish they serve up. Pre-game Bozz says Roar has been suffering from the effects of what has happened in the background pre-season. In the background? Does he have any idea? As to the call team and sideline eye Tara, words are hard to find to describe such incompetence but let's just say if they had to be licenced as journalists they would probably not have jobs. But when Berisha scored I knew we would too, he's our inspiration. Always do (well, often do). I would like to see more of those young guys who came on late last night too, the very strong looking Victory boy who was heavily involved in the build-up to Berisha's goal, plus the Roar duo (Sawyer and Akbari), and indeed O'Toole.

Agree. If you don’t stamp it out it will spread. We’ve had these cynical fouls for two seasons now and it’s now becoming endemic. The answer is to return powers to referees to automatically book “deliberate foul play”

This game like most now suffered greatly from the malignant cynical foul that is killing off counter attacks and killing odd crowds. What’s killing the A-League? Simple the cynical fouls being committed on or around half way to stop counter attacks. It’s a cancer on our game and this is what is being done about it: Commentators joke about it “he took one for the team”. FFA – they are doing sweet FA as usual. They only worked hard on the dodgy FOX contract to ensure they get overpaid. REFS – Hand out yellow cards to the smarties but only reds will fix this debacle Coaches – I would think they are all into it but some more than others Fans – are doing what sensible people do and refuse to watch the cynical rubbish they robs the game of excitement and they are staying home. Something has to be done quickly because there are a lot of options in summer in Australia, unlike Euro winter, and people will walk. We all accept quiet periods in a game but when the exciting periods are halted by cynical fouls, well why bother going. I’ll send another complaint to FFA about this but you normally just get a Public Service reply i.e. they could not care less.
