Kangaroos props cleared by match review

By News / Wire

Kangaroos props David Klemmer and Aaron Woods have been cleared to play in Friday’s Rugby League World Cup quarter-final against Samoa after no charges were laid from round three matches.

Klemmer was penalised and on report after a tackle in which his head and shoulder clashed with ball-carrier Chris Saab’s head, leaving the Lebanon second-rower concussed during Australia’s 34-0 win at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.

Woods was booked for a lifting tackle on Tim Mannah, with his rival prop later declaring Woods had tried his hardest to put him down safely.

The World Cup match review committee on Monday found there was no case to answer from either incident.

So very sad that Judiciary didn't do all Kangaroo supporters a favour and rub Woods out of the Cup :(

Must have been the same judiciary that got the pommy biter off.

Match review committee was always going to go softly but from what I saw, Woods tried to hold Mannah up off the turf once he saw where the tackle was going. Klemmer's didn't seem too bad, don't know how the guy got knocked out. That swinging arm from NZ's big Nelson whatever on JT2 was far worse & would have done damage if it connected, throwback to the 80's international games. Even biters get off because the victim apparently stuck his arm in the assailants mouth?

Yeah but you could see that when Woods realised what was happening he did his best to hold him up and reverse it. I think he was genuinely surprised how easily he flipped.

The RLWC match review committee is just a big joke as the NRL match review. How the hell Woods didn't get suspended is a mystery to me. That tackle was so seriously bad. Klemmer, hummm, it was a head clash initially which would had caused the most damage, but still, a contact on the head with the shoulder, I can kind of see why no suspension.

I didn't see that tackle, but I hope Manu Ma'u gets off, so if Klemmer gets off then maybe Ma'u gets off too.

I would have thought Woods was in a worse situation.... Dumped the player on his head.

Woods fair enough, but Klemmer should be out.
