Rising Reds tame Jaguares

By Alan / Roar Guru

The Reds are a team on the rise, defeating the Jaguares in Buenos Aires to secure a third straight win for the first time in five years.

Queensland’s forwards were superb and managed to win the arm wrestle in the first half before standing firm defensively in the second as the Jaguares tried desperately to get back into the contest.

The Jaguares once again opened the scoring early on as Bautista Delguy scored the Jaguares’ first. It appeared that the Jaguares would once again kick on from last week’s effort against NSW.

Queensland however went on to dominate territory and possession in the first half and eventually cashed courtesy of Brandon Paenga-Amosa’s try.

Filipo Daugunu then scored a terrific try early in the second half that would prove decisive for the Reds.

The Jaguares have once again fallen back to old habits against teams that are willing to knuckle down and win the battle up front.

Too many errors from the hosts and that was a result of Queensland’s great commitment and pressure today. A great win for the Reds!

Jaguares 7
Reds 18

I said it was a dog act. Thorn screwed Quade as hard as he could. And you attack me? A comment on a meaningless blog compared to an real life act designed to hurt and humiliate. But, yes, enough said, the world moves on and I won’t comment on it again.

Pretty sure Frisby was given notice at the same time and is currenty contracted elsewhere. Multiple players have signed contracts since. You ascertation then that it wad a Dog Act that was a personal attack reflects poorly on your ability to think rationally. Also please provide a link about Thorn wanting to coach the ABs and is preparred to step on people. A person with such ethics wouldn't make up things. Does booing rate highly in your personal ethics?

I have to say the Australian sides look much better this year. The condensing of talent into 4 teams seems to be paying off. As many people have noted the Australian teams are yet to play a Kiwi side but they are looking good so far.

Ill start going to their games when Quade cooper and Hunt are playing too much quality to leave out of the side. I dont have experience in coaching but it seems like a good idea to play your better players lol.

drongo - wow. quades old news, cant tackle and the only predictable thing about him is that he'll screw up under pressure. thorns proven correct that getting rid of quade leads to winning quade getting paid $650k to not play isnt anywhere near enough. whatever it takes to keep him away from this winning side is worth it. and saying that this is merely a stepping stone for brad is low. brads a QLD'r thru and thru and unlike quade would bleed for this team. brads not a flash in the pan man. he's here to stay until this job is done.

Stewart looked alright in that game so hopefully he will progress for next year when lance moves on but I wish the Rebels would play that young guy at 10 or let someone else buy him as he is doing great on the wing for the Rebels but Aus rugby dont need wingers...they need a 10

LOL Im a Cheifs supporter and live in Brisbane so most of the rugby I get to live is Reds V NZ sides. Whilst its been great going along seeing some NZ sides win a fair bit over the last few years I have been disapointed at the Reds standard for quite some time. They wont win the comp this year but surely its better than they have been for quite a few years and why try to downplay their efforts by stating the opposition played weak against them...3 oppositions in a row that is...apparently

I always want them to win. No confusion at all. I also think what Thorn did to Cooper was a dog act, timed as it was to inflict maximum damage to his playing future. I also believe that Quade could only improve this team. The confusion is all yours as you don’t seem able to understand that I won’t ignore my personal ethics to absolve Thorn. This is nothing but a stepping stone for Thorn who wants to coach the ABs. He doesn’t care who he steps on, along the way.

Hurles that is totally correct. The Reds are by far a polished team. However i do believe that we are seeing a different Reds team from the last few years and a win is a win. I can see them trying as hard in the last minute as the first whether 30 points behind or 30 ahead and I see an attitude change which reflects a culture change. This Reds team is very young and for a bunch of guys 19-20-21-22-23 its been a good start for their confidence and gives a great belief for them going into the rest of the season. Many teams would love a 3 game winning streak and no one expected it would be the Reds with 1 this early on.

Still cant see the bleeding obvious eh Drongo....I do admire your persists in your anti Thorn stance and I certainly dont see the great QC coming back anywhere near this team. You should be worshiping Thorn by now as he has done what many tried to say was impossible....he has made the Reds competitive....What more do you want?

Congrats Reds compared to last season and seasons before this is a great start. 3 in a row is fantastic for Brad and team. Funny after game 1 and the comments that were made and now 3 weeks later they have exceeded my expectations. Well done. Nothing wrong with winning ugly. D is a reflection of Thorn. And yes the attack will improve. Up front in the engine room gives the backs a bit more time and space. They will improve. And please no one mention the s word the old superstar tag. Keep there feet on the ground although pretty sure Big Bad Brad will do it. Also the q word he may or may not be grafted back into the new culture being demonstrated by this young team

Congratulations to my Reds for overcoming a flakey Jaguars. Very happy to see three wins in a row. Still, we have not played a Kiwi team yet. The draw has been ideal. Old Fox will sing Thorn’s praises and we all know why. What is the odds we will defeat the Kiwis Foxey? I would love me to hear your prediction for the games against the Chiefs, Hurricanes and Highlanders?
