Just two nights removed from Australia’s incredible 4×100-metre relay world record, three of that team – Cate Campbell, Bronte Campbell and Shayna Jack – will line up in the final of the women’s 50-metre freestyle.

While Canadian Taylor Ruck and South Africa’s Erin Gallagher will also fancy their chances at a medal, Australia have the three fastest qualifiers and will be aiming for a complete shutout in the second event of the evening.

While that event seems to headline the Australian chances to continue their ever increasing medal tally in the pool, the opening event of the evening is a chance for South African Chad le Clos to pick up a ridiculous 14th individual Commonwealth Games medal.

The butterfly swimmer will lead the field in the final of the 200, fighting off familiar foes in James Guy, Duncan Scott and Australian duo Grant Irvine and David Morgan, who came into the morning heats with the second best time for the season.

Adam Peaty is expected to breeze to victory in the men’s 100 breaststroke final, probably ahead of teammate James Guy. Peaty was dominant in the semi-final last night, and it would be a major shock to see the world’s best breaststroker standing anywhere other than the top step.

Speaking of domination and Canadian Kylie Masse will be looking to back up a semi-final Commonwealth Games record effort, holding off Aussie Emily Seebohm. The home crowd favourite had appeared to do a strong time in blustery conditions, but will be shunted to Lane 5 for the final.

Taylor McKeown and Georgia Bohl will fly the Aussie flag in the final of the women’s 200-metre breaststroke, but knocking over English duo Jocelyn Ulyett and Molly Renshaw will be easier said than done.

The final event of the night is the women’s 4×200-metre freestyle relay, an event which Australia broke the Commonwealth record for during 2014. With a one-two-three performance in yesterday’s women’s 200-metre freestyle, it’s expected the hosts will blitz reasonably easily to victory.

Of course, there’s also a stack of semi-finals and para-sport events to get through, so be sure to join The Roar for live coverage of Night 3 at the pool from 7:30pm (AEST) and don’t forget to add a comment in the section below.

Taylor Ruck closing the gap on Titmus for Canada now with this turning into a two-horse race. With just 100 metres to go, Titmus is going to need to put the hammer down, that gap back to just .45 of a second, England now a distant third. Up to the end of 750 metres and the lead seems to be holding, maybe just increasing a little during the second half of the lap with Ruck fading. Yep, it's back out to .93 of a second. Australia are going to win the 4x200-metre relay! Ruck with a superb last swim, but she just ran out of petrol in the tank over the last 100 metres or so. England will come home in third. Commonwealth Games record! of 7.48.04

Neale is well outside world record pace for Australia now, but has opened the lead up to England and Canada to about two body lengths. The race for second is still on, but it's Anderson starting to pull away from Smith for England. Titmus will have more than a body length as she jumps into the water for the final 200 metres of this one.

Throssell into the water for Australia, Sanchez for Canada and O'Connor for England, the rest of the teams now a long, long way behind the leaders. Throssell starting to open up the lead now for Australia. O'Connor putting in a great turn for England here, closing the gap to exactly one second with just 50 metres of the second leg to go. The Aussies will lead though at the halfway point at Throssell hands over to Neale.

Women's 4x200-metre freestyle final Away! It's McKeon off to a great start for Australia and she leads by half a body length before the first half of a lap is done. Canada and England sit second and third, but are quickly falling behind with McKeon under world record pace at the 100-metre mark by seven-tenths of a second. The lead is holding at about a body length as they head back up for the third lap of this race, but it's almost a second and Australia are off to a great start thanks to McKeon, who must be tired after her busy race schedule over the last few days.

Women's SM10 200-metre final This is going to be a repeat of the morning as well. Pascoe away early and leading by probably three body lenghts over Rivard and Leonhardt at the end of the first half. No one is catching Sarah Pascoe with Rivard just edging out Downie for second.

Men’s SB8 100-metre breaststroke final Away in the para-sport final. This could well be a repeat of this morning with the three Aussies out to a good lead. It's Disken flying and with a body length halfway through the first lap. It's going to be that repeat of this morning, with no one catching Timothy Disken, who wins it over the other Aussies, Hodge coming through in second ahead of Cochrane.

Women's 200-metre breaststroke final Tutton and Schoenmaker off to a good start here and the pair will duel for the lead through the first 100 of this race. At the halfway point of the race, it's Tutton with the lead and she holds that through the third 50, with McKeown gaining during it. With 50 to go, there is nothing in it as Schoenmaker takes the lead ahead of Renshaw now and Tutton in third. The Aussies dropping off Tatjana Schoenmaker will hold on all the way to the line for victory ahead of Renshaw and Tutton.
