The Melbourne Demons have finally put to bed their longstanding losing streak against North Melbourne, conceding the first four goals of the match but eventually running out comfortable winners at the MCG on Saturday.
Final score

North Melbourne Kangaroos 13.8 (86)

There have been some big hoodoos busted by Melbourne in recent years as first under Paul Roos and now Simon Goodwin they’ve gradually risen up from being absolutely terrible to being a semi-respectable side.
However one that still hangs over their head is that they haven’t been able to get a win over North Melbourne since 2006, back when John Howard was prime minister, no one had ever heard of Ed Sheeran, and Nathan Jones had hair.
Speaking of Nathan Jones, he was the only current AFL player to feature in the 2006 side, and the only player on the Melbourne list who has ever had an AFL win over the ‘Roos while wearing a Demons guernsey.
Of course, Melbourne mashed the Kangaroos in the preseason competition down in Tasmania, and they will very much like their chances of doing the very same thing again in the regular season.
Helping them a lot is that Robbie Tarrant will miss the match as a late out and the Dees will be hoping that Jesse Hogan is able to get off the chain as a result.
It’s the only change to a North side that defeated St Kilda by 52 points on Good Friday last week.
Melbourne, on the other hand, have dropped both Jayden Hunt and Cameron Pedersen (a former North Melbourne player), bringing in Sam Frost and Dean Kent as replacements.
Prediction
Realistically, Melbourne are the better football side and should win comfortably. That said, that was true twice last year also and didn’t happen on either occasion. Dees should still win though.
Melbourne Demons by 36 points.

If North are rebuilding, surely you would take for granted there's not much chance of being more than a bottom 4 side How much credit do you take for beating a bottom 4 side..

About time! Melbourne have been very unlucky since 2006 and this silly streak had to end. North played out of their skins against the Sainters but were shown up as a bottom 4 side today! Go the Dees!

Goal Tom Bugg kicks his fourth and that pretty much nails the coffin shot if it wasn't already. The Streak, sadly, is over.

Three-Quarter Time 2.6 form Melbourne in that quarter - they could probably have it iced by now, but 19 points up will probably be enough for them to break The Streak.
