It has been a disappointing three weeks for the Hawks. Their last win came against the Essendon Bombers four weeks ago, but since then they have not been able to put a win together.

They weren’t awful against the West Coast Eagles, but ultimately did not have enough to get the four points.

Jaeger O’Meara was bright kicking three majors and Tom Mitchell continued to show his ball-winning ability reeling in 28 touches.

Jarman Impey has proved to be a decent recruit thus far, and he further strengthened his case on the weekend bagging two goals.

They certainly are not out of the mix for finals, but they need to find a way to get some consistency back in their game. With the competition being so tight, every game dropped makes it all that more difficult to clinch a top eight spot.

In team news this week for the Hawks, Daniel Howe and Tim O’Brien return to the side. Mitchell Lewis and David Mirra are omitted.

As for Port Adelaide, they are coming off the bye after playing against the Gold Coast Suns in China two weeks ago.

That potentially could be an advantage for Ken Hinkley’s men, but only time will tell. They seem to be tracking along nicely at the minute, and will be keen to finish within the top four to show their premiership credentials.

They still have a bit to prove to the footballing public in terms of gaining their trust, but for the time being, they are winning the games they should and that’s all one can ask for.

In team news for the Power this week, they are unchanged from the side that played in China a couple of weeks ago.

Prediction
I feel Hawthorn will have the advantage playing down in Tasmania and that may prove to be the difference. I am still expecting a close game, though.

The Hawks by 13.

Fair enough. As I said, I didn't watch the game, so it would be unfair of me to comment on the umpiring. Also, hard to blame anything other than Hinkley right now. The fact he doesn't have this list scoring 90+ points a game right now is amazing.

Technicall most were there but the Umps were totally intervening at every opportunity - went both ways although most 50s went our way - all these guys should be dropped next week but won;t

I didn't get to watch it Birdman. Were the 50s warranted? Or were the umpires a bit too happy with the whistle?

Hinkley has been playing with house money for about three years. Every loss like this shows he's not an AFL-level coach.

Squeaky bum time x10. 4 very hard fought points - we may have the worst forward set up in the league ATM - really should have cruised it but lack our usual polish in F50 - no idea why

That is a massive win for Hawthorn. Port Adelaide really did jump them in the first quarter, but since the second quarter and onwards, it would be fair to say that the Hawks deserve the win.

8 fifty-metre penalties. That’s your winning margin right there.
