Giants get back on track against the Crows

The GWS Giants have taken a 16-point victory over the Adelaide Crows, in their first win against the Crows at Adelaide Oval.

After leading for most of the day, GWS conceded early fourth-quarter goals to find themselves behind and without the momentum.

Goals to Jeremy Cameron and Zac Langdon kicked the Giants back into gear, and they controlled the remainder of the game.

Despite getting the ball out of the centre, Adelaide couldn’t match the desperation of the Giants heading forward.

Some late inaccurate goal kicking left them disappointed and staring down a second loss in a row.

Coaching from the boundary, Leon Cameron relied on his assistants to advise him on the bigger picture, so he could focus on the direction of his players, in-person.

The win clearly meant a lot to the Giants, who included players, coaches and support staff in the team song following the victory.

Jeremy Cameron, Zac Langdon and Ryan Griffen kicked three goals each, with Langdon also relentless in his forward-pressure, laying eight tackles.

Stephen Coniglio (24 disposals, 2 goals) dominated early for GWS, but Sam Gibson went to him and kept the midfielder quiet in the second half.

Josh Kelly (31 disposals) and Dylan Shiel (30 disposals, 1 goal) were all class in the midfield.

Bryce Gibbs (36 disposals, 9 tackles), Matt Crouch (36 disposals) and Rory Laird (30 disposals) found plenty of the ball for the Crows.

Adelaide have some injury concerns out of the game; Tom Lynch left the ground with soreness around the abdomen, and Richard Douglas finished the game on the bench after copping friendly-fire to his left eye.

For GWS, Sam Reid came off with groin soreness.

Adelaide will travel to Perth to face Fremantle at Optus Stadium next Sunday afternoon, while the Giants host Gold Coast at Spotless Stadium on Saturday, with a chance to go two in a row.
