VOTE: Wallabies DIY player ratings vs Ireland third Test

By The Roar / Editor

Well – the Wallabies’ three-match series against Ireland is at an end, and the July international window is over. But before we get back to Super Rugby, we’d like to know what you made of Australia’s peformance.

So we’re opening up our DIY Player Ratings to you, Roarers. Have a vote and let us know what you thought of each player’s performance.

If you’ve not done our DIY player ratings before, it’s a simple enough process. Hit up the form below and rate each player from 1 to 10 based on their performance. We’ll keep track of the results and publish our findings tomorrow.

You’re free to rate players as you like with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest – or toss an NA on any player not worth rating – but if you’re looking for a bit more detail than that, our handy little guide might help you make your judgments…

1. Had he not played, the team would have been better off. Negatively affected the performance of the side. May God have mercy on his soul.
2. Anonymous. Was he even there?
3. Did some things that you expect a player to be able to do, but did a whole bunch of other things that sucked.
4. Was passable in patches, but not up to standard in a squad of such depth.
5. Performed his role without anything really noticeable happening.
6. Good.
7. Pretty good, actually.
8. Very good.
9. Excellent.
10. Might as well have been John Eales.

If the TMO gets it right like they did all night I dont care...but banging on about it is nothing more than poor sportsmanship

the TMO does seemingly review everything? the play at the end would not have gone to the TMO in league. Rugby is descending into a farce.

You want to change the rules ? Make them more simple? I’m not sure you want to head the rugby league route and have the TMO review everything

If it makes you feel any better, here in the U.K. we had an all Ireland commentary team and they were as biased as hell. Difficult to deliver completely unbiased live commentary when the matches are so close and there is so much tension

I had UK friends over watching and i couldn't be more embarrassed the fox commentary that proceeded to undermine every decision the ref made against the wallabies was disgraceful and essentially ruined the game

I just finished watching the match and it will be a bitter loss for the boys in gold as the game was there to win. I’ll be interested to see the penalty count. Felt like the ref whistled or reviewed loads of the AUS aggressive involvements relative to the micks

Only Tupou really developed and proved himself as a test player in this series. And for me the other highlight was the return of David Pococock as a world class player. Not all bad - newcomers Rodda (though quiet tonight), Koribete, BPN, Latu all had their moments. Timu, Tui and Samu likewiwse thought I"m not sure the Timu and Samu are elite test rugby players. Powell made a couple of crucial mistakes. Coleman probs shouldn't have played tonight. Sio needs competition for his spot. Backs - the absence of a credible alternative for Foley is a huge issue fpr Australian rugby and probs now our biggest weakness.

I usually like Kearns as I’m also one eyed, but tonight he sounds like a fool, I was actually embarrassed for him

Why was Latu penalised and not the Irish for holding on? Why did the Irishman not get a ted card for an elbow to the neck? I can't rate the players when it was not refereed competently. Why do we get penalised for tackling a dummy runner and we get our players smashed and out of the game and season? I do not rate phibbs or foley much. They are excellent club rugby players who are gutsy and fit, but a liability for the team. Better off with Gordon and maddockss for 9 and 10.

It should be acknowledged that rugby is one of the most difficult sports to referee.

Maybe Ireland were just the better team?

I’m sorry, but after watching the two trans Tasman test series, I have to say that the state of international refereeing is nothing short of appalling, inconsistent and if not biased, then just simply incompetent. It’s a shame compared to other international sports, perhaps worse than soccer, which is saying something. Something needs to be done.

Makes me glad to be an FTA viewer, Sharpe and Burke are far, far better than the Fox guys.

0 out of 10 for the appauling fox commentary. I have never heard such a bunch of victims. Even Kafer was laying into the ref in the end. Unprofessional.
