Fawad Ahmed came onto the Australian scene in interesting circumstances. Three Shield games for Victoria during the 2012-13 season saw Ahmed’s Australian citizenship fast tracked with the goal of picking him in the 2013 Ashes.
An Ashes debut did not eventuate. Ahmed made a handful of appearances for the Australian ODI and Twenty20 sides during the 2013 tour of England, but hasn’t played international cricket since.
Last summer Ahmed wasn’t picked in Victoria’s squad for the One Day Cup but received a late call up after Jon Holland missed the tournament because of injury. Ahmed took 12 wickets at 26.83 and was the tournaments best performing spin bowler.
Ahmed’s good form continued into the big bash where he took 12 wickets at 20.41 for the Sydney Thunder.
Ahmed was the second leading wicket taker during the Canadian Twenty20 tournament with 14 wickets at 15.28.
He’s also been in outstanding form during the Caribbean Premier League. With two games to go of the regular season he is the tournaments leading wicket taker, with 15 wicket at 14.80.
Ahmed’s white ball form over the past 12 months has been outstanding and should be good enough to earn him an international recall.
But remarkably Ahmed does not hold a state contract, after he was dumped by Victoria over the offseason. However a there’s still a chance that Ahmed plays for Victoria this season with Jon Holland likely to be picked in the Australian Test squad.
Regardless of whether or not Ahmed plays for Victoria this season he remains Australia’s best white ball spinner and should be playing for Australia at next years World Cup.

You might need to have another look at Agar. He'll turn it on anything but a road. Fawad can't bat or field so he cannot get higher honours for Oz. He has to be better than a 10 over spinner who submits at #11 and has to be hidden in the field.

Still a long way to go before the WC next year. He needs to keep doing what he's been doing, especially in the Australian domestic ODI series.

Totally agree Fawad has been carving up the last 12 months i was only saying to my dad last night that ahmad should be Australia's limited overs spiner spins the ball the most in the country hes a wicket taker. Another thing to is Agar and Zampa barley turn the ball.
