How to watch the Australian cricket team online or on TV: Australia vs India 1st ODI live stream

By The Roar / Editor

Australia will attempt to turn around the disastrous results of their Test series against India when the coloured clothes and white balls come out for a three-match ODI series. This is The Roar‘s guide to live streaming the first match of the series online and watching it on TV.

The first match of the series is set to get underway at 1:20pm (AEDT) on Saturday, January 12, with the Sydney Cricket Ground hosting the encounter.

The SCG was the host of the final Test in the recent series, and while that ended in a draw due to the weather, the forecast has no such issues this time, with two sides keen to continue their preparation for the World Cup later this year in England.

How to watch the match on TV

If you are looking to watch the match on TV, there will be only one option for the ODI matches, unlike the recent Test series, which was also available on free to air TV through the Seven Network.

This time around, you will need to be watching through Fox Sports to have access to the ODI match against India, with the pay-TV network having exclusive rights to all of Australia’s limited overs cricket.

To watch the coverage on Fox Sports, you will need to have a valid Foxtel TV subscription, complete with the sports package.

How to live stream the first ODI online

For those who would prefer to stream the cricket online, there are a couple of methods for you to do so, however, all of these will be through Fox Cricket.

The best and most convenient way to stream the cricket this summer will be to sign up for Kayo Sports, where you can watch all of Foxtel’s sports channels for just $25 per month.

The other alternatives are Foxtel’s streaming applications. If you already have a TV subscription, then you’ll be best off with the Foxtel App, which is free to use and download with a valid username and password.

Otherwise, you could sign up for Foxtel Now, which allows you to stream Foxtel channels, pending on the package you purchase. To ensure you can watch the cricket, you’ll need to make sure sports are included.

Here at The Roar, we will also be covering the match with all of the big highlights and a live blog of the action to keep you across everything.

Primitive Foxtel controls ODI cricket. Who wants to pay their exorbitant rates? School kids are already turning away from cricket because they cannot see it!

In a world if affluence not all are equal, subsequently my passion to watch a national team has been compromised. Thankfully the abc radio still presents the game.

This one of the most disgusting things the ACB has done to Australian Cricket. Little wonder our Cricketing heros feel they need to cheat, when it's all about the $dollar. Sham, Sham, Sham. Pete

Absolutely agree with other comments......Sell out and you lose the grass roots.....We can watch the Grid Iron from the states on free to air but not the Australian Cricket Team at a time they need all the support they can get.....Sad, Sad, Sad!

Thats just is so wrong that we can not watch the one day cricket without having to pay for it Why was this allowed to happen that Foxtel get the inclusive rights when we have been able to watch ODC in Australia free since it started Very disappointing

Well done Cricket Australia! wonder why people are critical of the game when they can't even watch it. Do you think t his will make the game more popular? No more ODI cricket for the next six years. Come on.

As a visiting POM it's been awesome to watch the recent test series (Aus vs India). All free-to-air. In the UK we don't have that luxury anymore. Cricket and Rugby (International) are both pay-per-view. Now, Australia is slowly going the same way! A great way to lose interest in a national side! Shame! :-/

Do you want people to quickly lose interest in the Australian cricket team and its limited overs cricket matches? Then broadcast it on pay TV with its limited numbers of subscribers. The cricket administrators have shot themselves in the foot with this one.

It is an absolute disgrace that this summer's ODI intenational cricket matches are also not available via free-to-air television. And this is after the Federal Government assured us non-Foxtel subscribers that they would be. Just another promise not worth a replay now.

It sucks that we have to pay to watch ODIs on pay TV or stream. Isn’t the ODI World Cup on this year? Bugger Pay TV/stream. I wish ODI cricket was back on live on free to air on TV
