Drogba, Yorke to play in bushfire relief game

By News / Wire

Didier Drogba, Dwight Yorke and Ji-Sung Park are among the star international footballers confirmed for the special Football For Fires match in Sydney in May.

The first release of players features former international stars including David Trezeguet, Claudio Marchisio, Dario Simic, Mark Bosnich, Emile Heskey, Pedro Mendes and Geremi.

The exhibition match at ANZ Stadium on May 23, which will feature some of the biggest names in Australian football, will give Australian fans a chance to say goodbye to retired Socceroos captain Mark Milligan.

Two teams of legendary footballers will be selected to play for the Firefighters All Stars versus SES All Stars competing for the Football For Fires Cup.

All proceeds from the match will go toward the restoration and improvement of local football clubs and facilities in fire-affected areas nationwide.

Very surprised to see John Aloisi on the list given his recent health issues. Good luck, and good on him.
