Welcome back Leeds United

Leeds United earned EPL redemption late last week, guaranteeing a path back to the Premier League after years in the lower divisions.

The scenes at Elland Road showed how sport can lift a city’s spirits in this strange new world – a world full of fear and the unknown.

After Leeds fans suffering 16 years in the wilderness and my beloved Liverpool FC having just gone 30 years without winning the domestic title, I could sense how euphoric their fans would have felt the minute that final whistle blew.

Scenes I witnessed on YouTube were epic, however the catalogue of fan songs and chants have room for improvement.

Seeing the players party and share that moment with their fans would have been a memory both will never forget.

It’s great to have Leeds back in the EPL, a club who inspired many a young Aussie kid back in the early 2000s with Mark ‘The Duke’ Viduka and Harry ‘A’rry Cool’ Kewell, scoring worldies on a regular basis.

As key cogs in a great attacking side that were a joy to watch, with the exception the day The Duke scored four at Anfield, they left many a memory for their Australian fans.

But be warned El Loco, aka Marcelo Bielsa, don’t go the same way as Norwich City and their gaffer Daniel Farke. What works in the Championship won’t cut always cut in the EPL.

Your experience and knowledge of the game should ensure Leeds fans don’t suffer another long absence from the Big Show.

A warning to all EPL clubs – hire the MI6 to do background checks and tail all staff from the tea lady to the club owner. If you have a security guard, apply for a role with a glass eye, it’s most likely a high tech camera, live streaming to El Loco’s hidden lair.
