Australia vs India first ODI live stream: How to watch international cricket online and on TV

By The Roar / Editor

International cricket returns to home shores today for the first ODI between Australia and India at the SCG. Don’t fret if you’re not lucky enough to be in limited attendance for the match, we’ve got all the information you need to watch it on TV or live stream it online.

The first game of the ODI series is scheduled to start at 2:40pm (AEDT), which means a 1:40pm (AEST) start for Queensland viewers. Elsewhere, you can catch the first ball at 2.10pm (ACDT) in South Australia, 1:10pm (ACST) for Northern Territory viewers and 11:40am (AWST) for Western Australians tuning in.

How to watch Australia vs India online

There are options aplenty to live stream the one-day-international. First up, we’ve got Kayo Sports, who will be carrying Fox Sports’ coverage and commentary live and on-demand. Kayo offer a 14-day free trial for new customers or you can sign up to the streaming service for just $25 per month.

Alternatively, you can watch Australia versus India live or on-demand on Foxtel Now – though it’s a little bit more expensive as you have to purchase the sports package separately. However, they do also have a free trial available, this one for ten days.

Existing Foxtel customers can also stream the match live on Foxtel Go.

How to watch Australia vs India on TV

Unfortunately, the match will not be available on any free-to-air channels. That leaves pay TV provider Foxtel as your only choice to view the first ODI on TV.

Fox Sports 501, the dedicated Fox Cricket channel, will be broadcasting the one-dayer with coverage beginning at 2pm (AEDT), with the first delivery at 2:40pm. Before the game, they’ll also be showing highlights of the last ODI series meeting between the two nations.

There’ll be a break in play at 6:10pm (AEDT) for 30 minutes at the conclusion of the first innings before play resumes at 6:40pm. So don’t sweat it if you’re working during the day, you’ll still be able to catch the chase concluding at around 10:10pm (AEDT) before a 20-minute post-match wrap-up.

How to listen to Australia vs India on radio

If you’d prefer to listen to the action, the simplest way is to download the Cricket Australia Live app or create a free account on the Cricket Australia website. From here you can listen to ABC Grandstand’s live audio coverage of Australia versus India.

It’s a shame that ODIs, which used to be accessible on free-to-air, are now behind the Fox paywall. But it’s like any other product – if one can’t afford it, they can’t access it. And a Kayo sub is hardly going to break the bank for a lot of people. I recognise everyone isn’t in the same financial position as me, but is $25/month really an egregious amount of cash for what Kayo provide? I see it as pretty decent value.

I find it difficult to swallow that our loved one day cricket is unavailable to people who can’t afford pay tv, and we didn’t know until we wanted to watch it yesterday. REALLY channel 7, I am sad, angry and helpless to those in charge of sport. What of tennis this year? What of the Olympics when they finally start? For a lot of people sport brings joy, don’t deprive us, please do something about this.

I concur with the other comments. The bizarre TV deal between Cricket Australia and Seven/Foxtel has been garbage from the get go. The current broadcasting deal has been extremely unfair for average cricket lovers who simply don't want to mindlessly fork out money to News Corp and Telstra, just to watch a simple cricket match. It's even unfair for the advertisers and sponsors, who are not getting their money's worth due to the live international ODI matches being blocked from being seen by most Australians, which in my view should be illegal. Australia's anti-siphoning laws should not have allowed this current deal to be approved at all.

Another stab in the back by the Australian Government in giving their master, Murdoch total rights to ODIs. Originally we were promised all international cricket would be on Free to Air TV. How long before Murdoch gets the lot and the AFL and ARL?

This sucks. It is a disgrace that we have to go to Foxtel. Kerry Packer would turn in his grave. We have to listen to all the talk but get no service. PAY PAY PAY. That is all you want. Well for us cricket is over. Diane
