Brisbane seek to take a huge step towards locking in a top two position when they travel to Marvel Stadium to face Collingwood. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:50pm (AEST).

With the top four looking set as we head towards the finals in a fortnight’s time, all that remains is the teams behind Collingwood to grapple for positions, with second a huge advantage, particularly for interstate team such as the Lions and Port Adelaide.

Chris Fagan’s men have continued to produce the results despite the terrible end to Will Ashcroft’s season. Adelaide, Fremantle and Geelong have been the most recent wins, with only a shock loss to Gold Coast blotting their copybook over the last month.

Home advantage looks to be the Lions’ biggest weapon; a win today would make a Gabba finals series likely before grand final day.

Collingwood have been the best team in the competition across the course of the season, yet find themselves in a spot of bother with the finals looming. The loss of Nick Diacos has been well documented, and Darcy Moore and Jordan De Goey are also absent this week. The depleted squad gives the Lions a clear chance to take the four points and demand Port Adelaide keep winning to maintain pace with them.

Team news sees Daicos, De Goey, Moore and Bobby Hill all out for the Pies, and Steele Sidebottom back into the 22 in what is a much-needed inclusion. The Lions, meanwhile, welcome back half-back Keidean Coleman, but will miss veteran Jack Gunston with a knee injury.

Prediction

In what looms as one of the games of the season and a match-up we could see repeated during the finals series, the Lions look clear favourites considering the Collingwood casualty ward.

At a venue the Pies enjoy far less than the MCG, they should also have the quality to win in Melbourne against a Collingwood team with little to play for across the final two weeks of the season.

Thats it hey if somebody doesn't want to be there, there's no point in forcing them to stay, I guess it comes down to why they want to leave, if it's family.or personal fair enough but if it's something else at the club that's when you start to worry.

I’m always inclined to allow players to leave if they feel estranged from club. We tend to not allow players to head off in past & the resentment can spread like can.er.

It's a hard one because without your members you don't have a club but in all honesty more than half of club members wouldn't know their head from their reared when it came to running a club etc. I guess if you have players wanting to leave, good players something would have to be looked at unless your better off without them I guess.

Any chance your members can kick up and force change.

They are a very slow team when it comes to change. Personally see the same trash running the club into the gutter for 24’. The future looks dim.

Definitely. For your sake man I hope they do what's right for your club and quickly so it doesn't affect you next year.

Maybe but not making finals clearly has the blow torch directed at the coach.

All supporters luv the players that’s why they crack it …. :boxing: Opinions matter & constructive criticism is important to keep the pampered players in check. The players are paid extremely well to always give 110%. If they can’t cop it then the club as a whole should have a good look at the structure of the club. A bit of backbone is important to moving forward. Bevo has two years left & can’t see the club moving him on unless the players do a Cummins & Co & oust him out after a pub crawl. Just heard they all got together at a local pub :silly:

What's your thought on bevo, keep him and get some new people around him or start all over with a new coach? Yeah not sure how he can't understand the frustration maybe that's the problem no offence to bont but if he can't understand why your fans are upset maybe that's the problem. That sounds like the fans care more than the players.

The dogs are in strife the fans have gone feral which is perfectly normal. These new age players can’t handle the constructive criticism. Bont came out & was perplexed at the abuse but that’s a normal reaction to mediocre ongoing performance. Humans that devote an entire 6 odd months to the cause have every right to have a sh.t fit. Captain & players need to toughen up.
