Round 8 concludes with Collingwood looking to retain top spot on the ladder when they host GWS at the MCG. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 4:40pm (AEST).

The Giants will be without captain Toby Greene for this clash, who failed to overcome an ankle injury in time; meanwhile, the Pies’ own skipper Darcy Moore is in grave doubt with an elbow problem.

The Pies are 7-1 and flying to start the season, with their remarkable knack of winning close games only growing their belief by the week. Another side would be concerned by the loss of another tall ruck option in Billy Frampton through injury, but Craig McRae’s men aren’t so easily bothered.

The Giants lose running defender Isaac Cumming for their trip to Melbourne, while they have named a debutant in Cameron Fleeton. A defender, the first-gamer is set for a baptism of fire against the Pies’ multi-pronged forward line.

McGovern, who changed the way that defence sets up. Cripps underrated small forward. Shuey, Norm Smith. Kennedy,700+ goals. Naitanui the premier ruckman/monster midfielder. Others past or nearly past it, Gaff,Sheed,Darling. You can't just pluck them. If we can get players on the park! And on the park in the WAFL... Then we can see. Ginbey is a twelve year player, Allen, Barrass, Ryan, Williams ,Long, Chesser One half-decent season. Minor injuries only please. That's all we want

It’s a tough caper AFL footy it use to be suggested that it’s a 7 year plan to arrest a slide & emerge & playoff for the opportunity to win finals & thus the holy grail but it feels like when the slide occurs & it’s a regular occurrence teams harbour on holding onto dead wood & hope with young talent it will unearth a miracle & the team will play with a new spirit & unity & all is bloody wonderful. Where’s your team at Doc in that 7 year window ?
