It’s an early elimination final to kick off Round 21 as the Richmond Tigers battle the GWS Giants looking to take their spot in the top eight. Follow the action from Marvel Stadium with live scores on The Roar from 7:50pm (AEST).

Both these two sides are coming off crucial wins in Round 20, as the logjam for the final two places in the eight grows ever tighter. With Essendon facing a helpful run home, it’s likely the Tigers and the Giants will need to win this match plus their Round 23 encounters to scrape into the finals – and even that might not be enough.

For the Giants, the week has been dominated by their unsuccessful appeals to free Toby Greene from his one-match suspension for an elbow on Patrick Dangerfield, during their club-defining win over Geelong last Friday night. They’ll be without their acting captain and talisman for this one, but if they show the spirit they did last week, the Giants will be in good stead.

After a sluggish start, the Tigers eventually ran away from the last-placed Kangaroos in a welcome return to the winners’ list, having one just once previously since the byes. The two-time reigning premiers are still a side no one will want to face in the finals, but in the form they’re in, Damien Hardwick’s men will be up against it to even make it to September.

Leon Cameron has rung the changes for this must-win game, and the cavalry has responded to the call. Stars Josh Kelly and Jacob Hopper are both back after missing Round 20, while key forward Jesse Hogan and ruckman Shane Mumford are also among the six ins. As for the Tigers, they have the luxury of going in unchanged.

Seems to be more than just “just footy bro” to you….from what I see here anyway! I just find amusing that a supporter from one of the AFLs most disappointing finals performing Team thinks its fun to tease the supporters of the most successful Team of the last 4 years. Like I said, its just weird behavior.

Nup, doesn't burn at all, as if I sit around worrying about last year's prelim, it's just footy bro

Not upset at all….just feel sorry for you! That loss to the Tiges in last year’s Prelim must still burn like hell! But chin up buddy, with a lot of luck you guys may win something one day!

Lol….good comeback Potsie. So funny that you base your barb on the impossibility of seeing into the future? Just a weird thing to say! History dictates that the Tigers have a much better chance of winning another “Cup” before Power ever will. You’ll just have to live with the fact that PP are generally a failure of a Club. And speaking of Cups, why don’t you swing by Punt Road and take a look at the 3 shiniest cups in the League!!

What? Go and look at one AFL Premiership Cup? No thanks. I can see why you don't wish to dwell on the past!

One would do well to not dwell on the past, for that is what has been, not what is or will be. This season is looking pretty good, but we can't ignore the 20 SANFL premierships and the AFL premiership in the cupboard either, maybe you could visit Alberton one day and have a look at our grand old history.

Correct, I don’t like Richmond. Never have. You don’t appear to have much patience for opinions you don’t agree with. Just have a bit of fun mate, you’ll live longer.

Better than yours. Your name is quite ironic, you seem to have some sort of grudge and it’s a bit sad. Enjoy your evening.

You struggle with a bit of feedback, don't you? Do you really think Damien Hardwick's choices had no impact on the club? Look at your wayward youth. Mrs H had a big role there.
