The final game of the AFL season has arrived, and there could still be finals implications as the Port Adelaide Power go face to face with the Fremantle Dockers at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 4:40pm (AEST).

After a big 38-point win for the Hawthorn Hawks on the road over the West Coast Eagles, they cling onto eighth spot.

The Western Bulldogs, should they beat the Crows this afternoon in Ballarat, will make this game meaningless. If the Crows beat the Bulldogs though, this game becomes something.

Of course, it’s a fairly faint hope. Port would need to win by at least 95 points to jump the Hawks for eighth place, and have the Crows win by a smaller margin, so it’s going to be a tough old gig to try and make that happen.

However, the Power have been up and down, inconsistent all year wrong, and there is a chance that if everything goes right for them, both in their own game, and in others around the grounds today, then they could jump into the eight.

Basically, you have to wonder whether the good Port, or the bad Port are going to show up. If they have a chance to make the finals, then you’d expect the good Port to show up, and they could put the cleaners through the Dockers.

A nearly 100-point loss to the North Melbourne Kangaroos last week was an absolute killer for the club, but in recent weeks, they have beaten Essendon by 59, Sydney by 47 and Adelaide by 57.

They can win big, and the Dockers don’t exactly have a heap to play for, having sacked coach Ross Lyon during the week and being out of finals contention.

The Dockers have won just two of their last eight, and if they can’t find a way to control the home side through the midfield, this could get ugly.

Prediction
The Power should win, but then, it probably comes down to what they have to play for, which they will know by the bounce.

They probably aren’t going to win by the 95 points needed though.

Power by 32.

FULLTIME The Port Adelaide Power have come away with a victory in the final game of the AFL season, beating the Fremantle Dockers by 43 points. Neither team could make he finals by the time the first bounce rolled around today, and it was the Dockers who came away with a strong start, leading by nine points at the first change. Things badly fell away from there for the Dockers though, scoring just five points in the second term and 21 points in the second half, including a couple of late goals. Port Adelaide charged away with the game in the end as Xavier Duursma, Connor Rozee and Charlie Dixon led the way. Power 15.20 (110) Dockers 10.7 (67)

Q4 0' - GOAL POWER, XAVIER DUURSMA And Duursma kicks the final goal of the season after the siren. Port Adelaide finish a dominant day with a goal, but that was a real nothing after an entertaining first term. In the end, it's Port by 43. Power 15.20 (110) Dockers 10.7 (67)

Q4 0' - GOAL DOCKERS, HUGH DIXON The Dockers just needed a fifth term. They are running home with a wet sail here, kicking another one as Hugh Dixon snaps through for a goal. Power 14.20 (104) Dockers 10.7 (67)

Q4 2' - GOAL DOCKERS, NAT FYFE The Dockers back inside 50 here. Not a great kick here across the middle, but Fyfe rises up and takes a great mark. Something to cheer about at the end as he kicks Fremantle's second. Power 14.20 (104) Dockers 9.7 (61)

Q4 2' - GOAL DOCKERS, MICHAEL WALTERS Michael Walters now with a goal. He has had a couple today, and a fairly reasonable season. Who will have the honour of kicking the last goal this season. Power 14.20 (104) Dockers 8.7 (55)

Q4 4' Well, that just about sums up the entire game. Dixon looks to kick up and under, sending it the wrong way, then Hartlett puts a ball out on the full. Port Adelaide are going to win, but this is not great footy. Power 14.19 (103) Dockers 7.7 (49)

Q4 5' - GOAL POWER, CHARLIE DIXON Charlie Dixon. Good mark inside 50 as Port shred Fremantle again. He won't miss from there and the century is up. Power 14.19 (103) Dockers 7.7 (49)
