The Subiaco Lions will be hoping to win their third WAFL premiership in five years when they host the West Perth Falcons on in the WAFL Grand Final on Sunday afternoon at Optus Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 4:40pm AEST.

The Lions have been the dominant team of the WAFL over the last five years, qualifying for the Grand Final every year and winning back-to-back flags in 2014 and 2015.

The second of those in 2015 was won over the team they’ll play again in this year’s decider, the West Perth Falcons, and was an absolute shellack – the Lions won by 11 goals.

The past two seasons however have seen them lose to Peel Thunder twice at the final hurdle, and they’ll be hoping to reverse that trend.

The Lions have a few names you might recognise from the AFL in their side today. Ruckman Zac Clarke is the most notable, having played 101 games for the Fremantle Dockers.

There’s some talk that his excellent season at WAFL level has him a chance to be picked up in the AFL for 2019, perhaps by the West Coast Eagles.

Subiaco skipper Kyal Horsley played 14 games for Gold Coast in 2012-13, while the team also includes former Hawk Angus Litherland and former Docker Josh Deluca.

It’s a similar case of affairs for the West Perth Falcons who can give WA footy fans a blast from the past with the likes of West Coast’s Andrew Strijk and Fremantle’s Jay van Berlo in their backline.

Prediction
The Lions have meet West Perth three times during the home-and-away season and beaten them each time, and will enter today’s grand final as very comfortably favourites to do so again.

Subiaco Lions by 30 points.

Goal for the Falcons, they've been slightly better these last couple of terms, but still haven't looked remotely like a grand finalist team.

Couple of low key minors this term, won't really matter in the end.

Three Quarter time, and Subiaco lead by 74 with one period to play. Ghastly really.
