The West Coast Eagles have claimed their first premiership since 2006, beating the Collingwood Magpies by five points in the 2018 AFL Grand Final at the MCG.
Adam Simpson’s men had to overcome a lacklustre start, with the Magpies slotting the opening five goals of the contest to have the black and white faithful in a frenzy.

However, led by Luke Shuey the Eagles were able to wrestle back some of the momentum, slotting two goals of their own in a row, before bringing the margin back to just 12 points at half time.
A fittingly tight tussle emerged in the second half, with the two sides remaining locked at eight goals seven behinds prior to the last quarter.
Yet with the flag on the line, after a run of five consecutive behinds, West Coast midfielder Dom Sheed was the hero, booting the match-winning goal to complete a remarkable come from behind victory.

In terms of entertainment, it was fantastic to watch. The final quarter alone is worth watching over and over. I'm not an Eagles fan. Just a sports fan who loves watching a battle to the end of a match/game. Hats off to both teams for giving it everything.

Dont think anything about that 50m was controversial. He tackled Cole well after he had taken the mark. I do agree that deliberate out of bounds was a crap call though

Whilst the free kicks where pretty even, what was the free kick count given by umpire 25 (Shaun Ryan)? He gave a controversial 50m penalty and pinned Trealor for deliberate out of bounds whilst slung in a tackle.... I think he was a bit one sided, interesting if someone looked into what he gave....

The winner played the game on the MCG instead of in the media. Congratualtions WCE and for us it's the same old story. Eddie, Buckley and players being stars in the media instead of on the playing field. Those late goals in the First Quarter were critical to the end result.
