'It's just so unnatural': Rare ruck free kick rears its head at throw-in

Because iof the blustery conditions and a weak throw from the boundary umpire the ball would have hit the ground before any of the ruckmen got to it. Was Ed Curnow meant to jump out of the way of the ball. Simple decision would have been for the umpire to have the ball thrown in again. Ruckmen having to nominate is one of the stupidest rules in AFL.
