It amazes me Toadie that if there is a group of supporters chanting ‘you are a w@nker’ at an umpire they get away with it but if it’s the cheer squad the club gets a ‘please explain’. I am pretty sure there has been harsher things said to an umpire by cheer squad members than that.
This is exactly what used to happen in the VFL. I am generally happy to let the cheer squads go further than normal good behaviour for a number of reasons but I certainly do not think that means no limits.
