Not a Freo or Saints supporter but whatever the punishment is, it wont provide any compensation to Fremantle for losing their ruckman for most of the game.
It is time the AFL introduced a secondary penalty for reportable infringements where a player is injured. So, firstly decide what the penalty should be - 1, 2 or 3weeks.
Secondly, the player infringing should not be able to play in the next match against Fremantle - whether that is finals or next year.
Might not make much of a difference for a player like Long but if it was a Dangerfield or a De Goey it could harm the offending player's chance of a premiership medallion.
should be 4, 6 to 8 weeks as its head high and dangerous long term.....but will only get 2 weeks and in thirty years time the AFL will be paying out millions of dollars because they didn't make an example of these hits.
If the AFL don't put a stop to these head high knocks the game will be dead in 50 years.
