With the new NBA season just over a month away, the draft is finally upon us. Join The Roar for live updates and a blog of the event starting at 12pm (AEDT).

Many young basketballers are about to have their dreams come true.

As for the teams that underachieved or are already in a state of rebuild, they’ll be looking at draft night as an opportunity to find the next piece in of the puzzle or even a cornerstone for the franchise’s future.

There are several other factors that make this year’s draft particularly enticing. While LaMelo Ball, who played a season with the Hawks in Australia’s NBL, is predicted to be selected as by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the No. 1 pick, there are many highly sought after players in the pool.

James Wiseman, Anthony Edwards, Onyeka Okongwu and Deni Avdija are also highly regarded in this draft and all have definite upside and talent. While the draft may not have an obvious No. 1 pick talent like 2019 did with Zion Williamson, any of the listed players would be a great pick up for any of these teams looking for a player to help their franchise.

While draft night features young players finally having their dreams fulfilled by entering the NBA, the night has also featured many historic trades. Trades like the 2007 Celticsswitch for Ray Allen and the Hornets trading away rookie Kobe Bryant shaped franchises, and the 2020 draft night is likely to feature some major trades.

With many rumoured trades currently circulating, the potential to see one of them become official is certainly in the back of the minds of all fans.

This draft also leads to other questions, such as whether the Warriors will trade the No. 2 pick and bring themselves back into the championship race or if the Wolves will really draft LaMelo Ball due to the young star sharing a position with All-Star D’Angelo Russell.

Anything is certainly possible, even after the number of trades that have already occurred. The 2020 NBA draft is one fans will not want to miss.

Join The Roar midday today at 12pm (AEDT) for live updates and breakdowns of every pick and trade during the 2020 NBA draft.

That's it for the NBA Draft coverage. It has been a draft full of surprises, trades, and hidden gems. What was the best moment of the 2020 NBA Draft for everyone? Mine was personally the emotion displayed by both Cole Anthony and Obi Toppin when they were drafted. I hope they both go well and I hope all the players drafted tonight have long and successful careers. Thanks to everyone who tuned in and partook in discussion through the blog!

I thought he would also go earlier, however the Warriors are lucky to get him with such a low pick. Will be interesting to see how he goes
