After a promising start to the season the Adelaide Strikers have lost their way in BBL|09 and need a win against the Brisbane Heat to kickstart their campaign at Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 3:40pm AEDT.

The Strikers have lost four of their past five matches in BBL|09 after opening the season with three wins from their opening four games. It is a poor run of form for Jason Gillespie’s men, and it remains to be seen if they can reverse the slide against emerging title contenders Brisbane Heat.

Brisbane started the season poorly but have gone on to overtake Adelaide on the ladder, sitting on five wins and four defeats. Most importantly the Heat’s line-up has been formidably strengthened with the addition of Test fast bowler James Pattinson and South African batting legend AB de Villiers.

De Villiers warmed up nicely in his first game for the Heat, scoring 40 runs against the Strikers. If the likes of De Villiers, Matt Renshaw and Chris Lynn bat at their best, Brisbane will set an imposing total against a limited Adelaide attack heavily reliant on Peter Siddle and Rashid Khan.

Adelaide’s batsmen meanwhile will look to exact a measure of revenge against Pattinson, who finished with five wickets the last time these two sides played a couple of days ago. Without Alex Carey, however, the onus falls on Travis Head, Jake Weatherald, Jonathan Wells, Phil Salt and Matt Short to pick up their games and put the runs on the board.

Prediction
Brisbane are slowly but surely building the form required to challenge for the BBL title. Adelaide are a great side on their day, and it wouldn’t surprise to see them cause the upset here provided Weatherald and company get big scores. If not, Brisbane will win well.

Brisbane to win.

How is Lehman a coach? Bryant should’ve been dropped 4 games ago and prestwidge should be playing. We win when prestwidge plays

BBL is "a lottery". What a turnaround from the other night. Lynn & Renshaw scored nearly all the runs. If the Heat batsmen don't fire their substandard attack struggles. Overrated.

After some very poor form of late, the Adelaide Strikers have risen from the ashes to make a statement against the Heat this afternoon. The home crowd was treated to a superb performance from the hosts as they bowled Brisbane out for 100 runs before tearing Brisbane's attack apart courtesy of a superb batting display from Phillip Salt and Jake Weatherald. Salt in particular rose to the occasion, hitting 67 runs off 38 deliveries which included 5 sixes. On their day, Adelaide I believe are the team most likely to challenge Melbourne for the title. Is this the start of something special for Adelaide or will they fall back to bad habits again next game? As for Brisbane...well the faster they can forget about this contest, the better. Erase it from the memory and move on quickly.

Hilarious - I just turned on to see that the Strikers were 0/104 and thought they should set a big target. It was only when they all started shaking hands that I realised that the mighty Heat were rolled cheaply. What a thrashing.

FOUR! Ben Laughlin to Philip Salt. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past long off for 4 runs. Overpitched, and Salt drills this back down the ground for four. Long on couldn't get round to cut it off. 0/55

I live in Brisbane and I do my best to distance myself from them Cutting is an absolute hack, he's the poster child for the grade cricket standard this side routinely dishes up

The good thing about living in North Queensland is the Brisbane Heat don’t represent the whole state. They’re a disgrace the rest of us Queenslanders can distance ourselves from.
